Why is Gil calling his mother-in-law “Meemaw”? And why is whats-her-name joking about Meemaw’s imminent demise? (I’m convinced the author has never dealt with actual human beings before.)
In this week’s episode’s of Milford Masterpiece Theater, formerly a Quinn Martin Production, MeeMaw is played by Irene Ryan. In P1 the scene is Milford Baseball Field. This means baseball not softball right? We’ll see.
I’d like to hear the crack of the bat too, instead of that “ping!” Maybe it’s been a while since she’s been to a game, since it’s hard to get out of the basement by herself.
Ooh, is it too much to ask to have Meemaw reprise the role of Naked Gun’s Norberg in this week’s strip? Just need to get her to the top of the stands. And speaking of the top, nothing can top today’s Mopped Up Thorp.
Gil is bringing his mother to see one of the little games he coaches, so she can die in the pleasant afternoon air, knowing her son could’ve been a doctor or lawyer or something but instead decided to do this, and do it pretty half-assed.
Gil to Meemaw: “Brim of the sunhat is bunt, swipe across the chest is steal, touch your belt is take, indicator is the right wheelchair rim—I’ll be at the bar if you need me.”
So she needs to be right by home plate to hear the crack of the bat, but she can hear Cami talking softly. And if she can hear Cami, can’t she also hear Gil?

P1: For a guy that’s obsessed with hands – the bigger the better – that’s the worst depiction of a couple holding hands I’ve ever seen.
P2: I think Meemaw is more interested in hearing the WAP.
P3: Cami breaks the 4th wall by asking Henry to speed up the process of this train wreck.

Shouldn’t Gil be coaching the team? And what is that roofed, glass-sided structure in front of the stands?

P-1: Gil thinks how easy it would be to push her from the top of the stands.
P-2: Mee Maw thinks (against your skull!)
P-3: What we all think and hope for.

Is that Sheldon Cooper? And since high school bats are aluminum, she won’t be hearing any ‘crack’.

Is Meemaw going to do her Don Rickles routine? Oh, wait, it says “crack OF the bat”, not “crack FROM the bat.”

Gil makes her honorary third base coach. Thinks; “If a screaming liner doesn’t ‘speed up the process,’ I don’t know what will.”

From today’s Comics Curmudgeon:
Gil is bringing his mother to see one of the little games he coaches, so she can die in the pleasant afternoon air, knowing her son could’ve been a doctor or lawyer or something but instead decided to do this, and do it pretty half-assed.

I think Henry is trying to steal your gig, Mopman. How do you do the “evil Gil” shtick when the real Gil is being evil?

Tomorrow, Mimi asks Gil, “have you seen MeeMaw?”, and Gil sez “… yeah… about 90 years old, and sits in a wheelchair, right?…”
