P 2 – the kid in cargo shorts looks like that pudgy baseball player who could hit but was also in danger of being thrown out at first from CF because he was so slow.

P 1: Jami and little Luke are having a contest to see which one of them is the biggest geek.

Here’s an idea: have the author spin off the Thorp kids and a few other minor characters into a brand new strip: “Drawn Together”, about comic book artists (an area the author actually knows something about). Then another artist, who presumably knows how sports works, can take over “Gil Thorp”.
