My wife used to go to the City Park to give out flu shots and do wellness checks on the homeless. My job was to wear my Air Force hat and jacket and troll for veterans.
On one of these occasions, I saw a man get a new pair of socks. He went into his pack, found another pair and gave them to another man.
I like to think that I am generous to my fellow human beings, but I don’t know if I have it in me to give up my next to last pair of socks.
That’s my story about the meaning of Christmas.
And then we have the billionaires for whom too much isn’t enough.
It’s funny how the older we get, the more practical gift-giving becomes. It’s not that the romance has gone, but there’s only so much perfume and jewelry a woman wants or needs. I still try to include a small romantic Christmas gift, but my wife really does appreciate the practical ones.
No, not socks! No gifts of clothing for either of us. We’re at the age where leg pillows, a massage pillow, and big, fluffy bath towels are more appreciated. Also, to balance out the bathroom scale and workout belt I bought her, I got her an air popcorn popper!
I bring her flowers at least once a month, so they don’t count as a holiday gift.

How fitting. Yesterday I bought 15 pairs of socks. I guess I’m all set.

from the panel, she gets socks, he gets slippers. Might be a good exchange. But either way, they’re going the ‘economical’ road.

Those socks could be used to add a minimal amount of warmth to the room by putting them into the fireplace.
