I believe in aliens, ghosts and Nessie.

If Nessie isn’t real why do so many American tourists spend millions of dollars every year going to Scotland in hopes of seeing the monster…

(Uh, I guess the answers are obvious: Stupidity and Scottish Board of Tourism promotions.)

The really amazing thing about today’s episode, is that SockNess got to finish his story before Mortimer arrived.

As Ford said, print the legend.

The true explanation is that the Loch Ness Monster was an elephant, from a touring circus, who took a swim while the circus was performing in the area.

But you must admit that in the last panel, Mortimer could easily be the (also legendary) Flying Spaghetti Monster!

That 1934 photo was proven a hoax many years later. Decades.

Legends outlive facts all the time. Neil Armstrong reported back that that green cheese was delicious.

Well, there’s a lot more to it than that! but always just tantalizing bits and fuzzy photos… Some of the eyewitness accounts are quite impressive, but those don’t come with photos. (sigh)

Why let facts get in the way of a good story.
