Hey! I read that Gary Larson’s editor didn’t allow him to use the word “dork” because it was a slang term for the male member. How come Greg Evans can use the term?

Gunther is logical, in a Mr. Spock kind of way. Besides, Knute’s ploy does not seem foolproof to me.

When did this become the Knute and Gunther strip? This thread started getting old a couple of weeks ago!!

Man, I love this comic. I’ve been reading it since 2005. However, one thing frustrates me beyond belief and that is Gunther. I keep wanting him to improve himself; to get that confidence and to build it up. I really wanted him to take that class. Oh well. I still like the character and this entire strip! Greg, if you read these comments, your strip is the only one I ever bother reading anymore save for the occasional Cavin & Hobbes nostalgia runs! :D

Gunther, STUPID assed Jokes AREN’T gonna to do it and guns are OUT of the question since:

    1) You are in a gun free zone.

    and

    2) You couldn’t afford them anyway.

Normally I would suggest that when the time comes, you pour boiling hot coffee down old needle nose’s pants and then RUN like the wind but THAT would be a criminal waste.

My suggestion? Use your strength, which is your VAST intellect, and OUT think the slimeball.

…., Well THAT and a Cattleprod.

I know the feeling. I grew upp in a time when bullying was not metioned at al. I was always told to ingnore whoever is bothering you. How on earth can I ignore someone that is punching me in the nose or shoulder or where ever he decides to hit me? Even if i told it was always put on me that I started it. now That stinks.

I agree that this is even slow time in the Luanniverse. Let’s speed things up a bit, before I lose all interest.

For all the Norman Rockwell memories some have of high school, I wouldn’t do it again, even knowing what I know now.

Knute’s method is reminiscent of Richard Pryor, who used humor to keep himself safe while incarcerated. Humor can be very disarming but one has to have the personality for it. Knute (and Richard) have such a personality; Gunther? Not so much.

after having gotten beat in real life: 8 at nite, baseball bat, back of thug’s head (or 9mm, brick, whatever). this ain’t John Wayne honor-garbage. it’s all about (permanent) payback. shutting that house main gas valve off for 5 minutes, then turning it back on, is a cool payback, for a smoker, too.of course, reality will never visit this strip

Jokes don’t cut it. The bully might laugh at your jokes but still impart their cruelty. Schools are too big. They should have smaller schools so kids don’t feel so outnumbered and teachers get to know most of the them.

in the comments, there seems to be a confusion of what is reality and what is a scripted comic strip. one is real, one is not real. one more time.one is real. one is not real.

This reminds me of the film, Three O’Clock High. The whole movie the kid spins his wheels trying to get out of the fight. In the end, the bully tells him, I would have respected you if you had even tried.

The fact that Gunther is quitting before anything has happened is a lack of character. Sure, he may get beat up but at least he would have tried his best.

Who knows what may happen. He may even surprise himself with what courage he has in him.

This strip is lame. Not even funny. And I don’t get it either. Must be a guy joke or something. I think this story arc has run its course. Hopefully we will see Ann and TJ on Monday. Probably not because we haven’t seen Luann in a while so its probably her turn.

Something tells me that Quill will step in to take care of this bully, when he shows up to see Gunther in trouble. In many cases a stronger persom will tell the bully to lay off or else.

i like the idea of gunther and the krav maga classes but not so he can fight but have the confidence (not fear) not to fight. plus i guarantee there will be a look in gunther’s eyes that will tell leslie…move along you don’t want to mess with this one.

why is it that no matter which character(s) he is writing about, someone decides it’s boring and complains that he needs to write about something else? maybe we should just sit back and let him write his strip….or go write our own if we don’t like it.

Yeah, think like a victim, act like a victim, feed into the victim mentality, and you might as well have a big neon sign over your head that screams “you can get away with taking your issues out on me!”Humans pick up on body language way way more than they realize.
