Wow, wait to support, Bernice. I don’t remember Luann ever saying this was a career choice, and wasn’t Bernice one of those who suggested Luann consider drama for a college major?

But I do appreciate Bernice ending the picking between Tiff.and Luann

I can imagine Hollywood now: “Who was that beautiful blonde extra in ‘The Eyez of Zeye’? She has a future here! Get her name and contact information!”

While Bernice is right and neither have much of a chance, the truth is that Tiffany does have a better chance than Luann. There are many paying jobs for an attractive young woman who is willing to put herself out there — car show models, advertising (both local and national), catalogs, and so on. On the other hand, most trained actors never get beyond community theater, if that.

Tiffany is an airhead and I don’t like her, but she is beginning to come across as one of those sad people who are never going to be able to realize their dreams because they can’t change their dreams to something they can accomplish. I know it is politically correct to believe that anyone can do anything, but it is pretty hard if you have no talent or are not willing to work for it.

This is really getting to be depressing. If we take the characters at their words, no one is going to accomplish anything.Tiff’s fantasy will get her nowhere. Luann’s community college path might lead to (unpaid) community theater and maybe a small job on local TV (e.g., early shift traffic reporter or weather girl). Bernice is an enigma, a hanger-on with no discernible direction of her own.

I think I like Luann’s chances much more than Tiff’s. A liberal arts degree is going to go a lot farther than High school Diploma.

Bernice is actually the one with the most grip on reality on this point…..

People who go into engineering don’t NEED to make those kinds of statements….

everyone who goes to hollywood thinks they can beat the ten-million to one odds and become one of the couple hundred big celebrities in the country. But Tiff seems to have it worst than most, she’s narcissistic to the point of insanity…

I thought Luann was more into singing and making records.

Unfortunately whatever you study doesn’t guarantee you a job in that field.

People who go into engineering typically value knowledge and competence, not unique identity and meaning. It’s a temperamental thing and professions from acting to cartooning favor the latter outlook – including the gratitude, whether the profession is popular at the moment or not, of being able to do work that favors unique identity and meaning.Those who have a drive for knowledge and competence typically don’t express that kind of gratitude in my experience. It has nothing to do with how well their jobs pay or how in demand they are. It has to do with such people placing naturally low importance on value judgment and the gratitude it engenders.

I can’t stand Bernice.

Can’t get a job without experience, and can’t get experience without a job. Been there. Done that.

@serenasakitty – Yes that is the PC view. Which sadly isn’t a fact. That says something about political correctness. It deceives people so that they’ll feel warm and fuzzy about themselves rather than facing the cold truth head on. PC needs to go.

This is depressing. As an amateur artist/ writer I’m already having enough trouble. A lot of encouraging comments on here though. (not)

Get a degree. Any degree will trump a HS diploma in the eyes of HR dept. I am very well educated in person but under educated on paper. It was okay when all interveiws were scheduled in person. However, with the advent of internet only submissions for applications and resumes, the only recourse I have is a well written cover letter. That can only work if cover letters are accepted and read.

Plenty of potential film roles for Tiffany in San Fernando.

How is it that Tiffany, Luann, and Bernice always seem to shop at the same store, yet have three completely different styles?

Does any degree not in science, technology, engineering, or math result in actual jobs? My brother has told his children that he will pay for their college only if it is in one of the above fields (for instance, veterinary, nursing, engineering, computers…) . I would like to broaden the list for him, but the only example I have come up with so far is education.

Good grief! I can’t believe what some people are saying in their comments right now. People, like I just barely posted a minute ago, Luann does have a better chance at getting a good job because she plans on going to college while Tiffany doesn’t have such plans.Yeah, I’m currently working part-time at a movie theater, but I’m also in college, too. So back off on Luann, guys.

Is Luann ever going to get old enough to go to junior college? She did grow older by a couple of years some time back…

Catch 22, You need Hollywood to call for you to be in a major movie so Hollywood will see you so they can call you. Tiffany is already the perfect Disney star, vapid, untalented and egotistical.

At first I thought Bernice was being mean and taking a potshot at Luann (sort of a “frenemy” deal). However, she really does have a good head on her shoulders. It’s ridiculously tough to get ANYTHING on TELEVISION. It’s funny to think, but people in thirty-second commercials fight like cats and dogs for those spots. I actually have a relative in my not-at-all immediate family who was on a show that flopped, and now does the occasional commercial and he had been doing acting for ages.

“You two think you’ll make a living acting. Good luck with that.”-Luck favors the prepared.

“Where do employers think people will get the experience when they can’t get a job to get that experience of working?”-If they have to do so, they will train those who look willing to learn. They would much prepare to hire those who already know the job, they can hit the ground running.-Besides apprenticeships, there are internships. An apprentice pays to get training. An intern gets training by working for free while learning.-Some job openings also say something like, “Two years of education in the subject will be treated the same as one year of actual work experience.”
