Man: Check out the winning poster! Man: Uh, wrong. Here's the winner. Man: Let's see yours, Luann. Man: what are you doing? Luann: Mine stunk. I'm making another one. Man: Please pass your "home 4 the holidays" designs forward.
“Drawing A Blank”“Two Minute Warning”“Nestled Into Crunch Time”“Nothing To Lose…And Nothing To Win With…”“I’ve Got Plenty Of Nothin’…” (♪)“Runnin’ On Empty” (♫)“Zero For Zebo”“A Chip Off The Old Artists’ Block”“No-Show And Tell”“Last Minute Heroics”or“The Great Space Poster” (♫)
I like these two classmates of Luann:) I hope to see them in a more social setting with bigger roles, though I guess not every character can be show cased like that. Feel a little humbled that Luann hated yesterday’s drawing, I liked it a lot. Or maybe Puddles pee’d on it and that’s why it ‘stunk’:)
Guessing Luann’s new drawing will actually look like the real Puddles:) Everyone will be so drawn to his genuine cuteness that she will win with her last minute pencil sketch. Of course, I’ve been wrong with mostly all my predictions so far, ha ha:)
I recently ran afoul of the Gocomics moderator due to a post I made about three years ago (while I was in their “Phantom Zone” for another infraction), and that has put me in their “penalty box” again for the last couple of weeks. I have written to the moderator twice asking when I might be reinstated there, but I have not gotten a response as yet.
Hopefully someone drew a picture of an extended family ‘home 4 the holidays,’ instead of a pet adoption theme picture. I always have at least one student who appears to hear an occasional word or phrase, but misses the rest of the directions.
While I like the artwork of all three finished posters, I don’t see the theme in any of them. Home for the Holidays is the theme. Convincing people to adopt a pet during the holiday season is goal.
I’m not sure of the particular post in question, but it could have been that it wasn’t a comment here, but from another strip’s board from way back that caused JPW to have to “take a time out”…
Yeah, I know what you mean. I myself read a few strips, but only comment on maybe about six of them, but not every day and not in the same exact style as my comments here. – But I think many are similar in their habits, where they sort of put their focus on one particular strip or another, to comment on, and may only skim the other strips or comment only here and there. There are many who think of Shoe and Doonesbury as their “Face The Nation round table”, and there are those who share their pet pics, gifs and funny memes on Pooch Cafe or Ten Catz, sort of like a “de facto” FB. – But there are those individuals who seem to be everywhere ….
Well, I mean, no “titles” and stuff like that. I of course can’t resist a chance to make a pun or something like that…. but sometimes I may just “tone it down” or just relate something more “down to earth”. Depends on the nature of the strip, or the subject matter. Like “Jump Start”, sometimes the strip relates to things going on in current events (without being all dour and “New York Times”-like) or even relating to funny and familiar situations, everyday family/community moments. F-minus, Brewser Rockitt, Invisible Bread and Dark Side Of The Horse are the strips where the authors revel in puns and wacky situations, so it varies from people adding their own personal observations to contributing their own quirky brand of humor. These are the strips I enjoy reading the most, and will comment on, but not every day.
“You will be amazed at the similarity!”^Duly noted! I will keep a lookout for it! Probably due a trip to the zoo anyway, before the really cold weather arrives…. any wild skunks around here are smart enough to stay as far away from people as they can get!
I haven’t been to the DC zoo in a while. I barely had gone to the one in Baltimore, and last year I went, and remembered why it had been a while since the last time: half the animals there “went on vacation”, while they fixed up their habitat…
Mostly everyone I know “puts coffee in their milk”. It’s usually lots of cream, and brown. On the occasions that I did try a cup or two, it was usually black, with one and a half sugars. To me, they both have a coffee smell, but the one that’s “brown” has a distinctly “softer” aroma. – I used to work in a job where I had to brew several blends before the customers came in (at a fancy school for performing arts), and the Kona/Macadamia always had a pleasant smell, apart from the rest…
We only have only one that goes in a "straight north- south line, and actually runs a good distance outside of the city limits. We were fortunate enough to move to an area where you can get on, without all the “hustle and bustle” in the morning. It’s a pretty nice ride, from end to end. But truth be told, the end we’re on (the far north) enjoys the better share of stuff, once you get off the train.
We are about the same distance from our light rail as you are from yours. And are in between a couple of stops, so if not in an auto, we have a good selection of stops to choose from. The bonus is that the town center is five minutes away, and we can take a short trip by bus or train right to it, without all the hassle of parking…

In the Christian view, Luann should win. In the academic view, she would lose, and she knows it.

I actually like the jock’s poster.

Luann’s original rendering of Puddles might at least be competitive; any last second sketch seems doomed to lose….

Sigh.
Well, There’s No EASY Way to Say it.
So, I’ll just SAY It.
Luann’s old School Friends? Are FAR More Interesting than THESE Slugs.

A last second sketch may well have more impact
ACTIVIST1234 about 9 years ago
So in her haste, Lu has no time for another detailed drawing but instead submits a sketch, a cartoon. And thus she finds her style.

Luann will win by default for having nothing:“Your life is a blank (incomplete assignment) without a pet.”Home4theholidays.

Luann, you know better than that. Turn in the one you already did.

Luann, if you don’t want that poster of Puddles, I’ll take it! It’s better than anything I can do.
In fact, if the Evans team would put that poster on their website for downloading or offer it for sale, it would probably be a best-seller…

Luann always falls on her own sword. She has a great painting and is suddenly self conscious about it……..I just can’t look anymore.

Jock and Emo’s are both good, I like them.
Sunday is World Animal Day.
It’s nice of Evans to bring attention to animals.

From the way the teacher was in earlier strips, you’re probably right.

Thanks!! – Well, it’s a good thing I prefer tea, and not coffee. You just gave me another good reason not to “pick up the habit”, Lol!!!

Our critters that roam around wait until night to do so. Except for the deer. They seem to like the light rail transit trails…
