No, Luann, uou aren’t going to be teaching. You are going to be supervising arts and crafts at a day-care. That’s rather different, as you would soon learn if you ever get around to taking an actual course in elementary education.

It’s nice to see Luann being nice and mature about rejecting Jockman. She has summer plans and they don’t include finding an immediate replacement for Quill.

I am not suggesting that they are gay, since some commentators seem obsessed with that question, but in a way Emo/Goth and Mr. Jock/dog guy are sort of bromance version of Crystal and Tiffany, two opposites, or even Crystal and Knute, two complete opposites who attract.

I guess Principal Purgus made her an offer to repeat this summer while we were off on some other story arc.

Jock is a definite optimist.that’s my take. He’s not a “dog” ( I would recognize if he was!). He’s just into casual dating. At that age, nothing wrong with that.

Luann is not as good as she thinks. She is a day care worker. STEM students are doing their first internships in technical fields. Students in ROTC are getting shipped off to their first military camps. Business & Programming students are learning their crafts. But Luann is a glorified babysitter. She is a glorified babysitter who goes to a community college. BTW, that football player might be going into criminal justice and he will be earning fair pay as a cop in a few yeas.

(But anyone who trolls, flamebaits, or complains incessently can not keep the status due to almost never being able to go w the flow. Jock’s willingness to give one girl his phone number and then immediately turn his attention to a different girl (they may be friends from another class, we just don’t know) shows that Jock is interested in casual dating, which is a perfectly acceptable social activity, especially at his age. Luann, on the other hand, has never been interested in casual dating. Ever since she was an adolescent, her overwhelming ambition in life has been to have a boyfriend. Dating multiple people is just not for her. Jock had better learn soon that dating Luann is a real commitment, not just a fun activity. If Jock is as serious about football as Quill is about acting, then Luann will dump him, too. When you date Luann, it’s all-or-nothing.

I like Jock, he is friendly to all people, even to the negative, depressing Emo. Jock will find a girlfriend soon, and probably have a much happier life than either Luann or Emo.

Sorry, but Luann’s immaturity and shallowness shines like a beacon in this strip. She doesn’t know the athlete well enough to be judging him on the little knowledge she has of him. Sadly, we begin our initial judgement of people based on what we each look like and immediately decide whether or not we want to spend time getting to know that person instead of getting to know the person first before deciding if we invested our time well. People deserve better and should liked for who they are, not what they are or what they look like.

Oh, and I hope we’ll see more of the brunette. She looks interesting.

Hey, imagine this for Luann’s skill set: an online subscription educational series for young children with not a lot of workers so the same people do sets, performing (including songs and comedy), and writing.

@SukieCrandall I respect your response greatly, but I do speak from experience as I have treated some of the women I’ve met in my past just like Luann has, while a lot of women who have known me for months, or even years still consider me to be un-datable, even though they consider me a really nice guy. It’s a double-edged sword, and people deserve better. Luann may have known him for two semesters, but how much has she hung out with him to really know him?

It would be nice if we were to see Luann actually engage in some college-level academics. That art class was first-class nonsense. However this is Moony Uni ….. not really anyone’s idea of the sort of college they’d aspire to. I’d like to see Luann push herself and pursue something more meaningful in her third year of college (yes third year people!) than obsessing over her puerile concerns like the social rivalry with Tiffany and the next boy not named Quill……It would have been nice to see her trip to New York open her eyes to something larger than herself and her self involved existence. Like perhaps she might have encountered some urban poverty by taking the subway a little bit out of the way and maybe realized she might like to spend part of her life teaching poor children who have real problems in an inner-city magnet school. But no, all we get in this strip is typical suburban nonsense that leads…..nowhere.
