Toni: i'm exhausted Brad: me too. But I can't stop thinking about that home we saved. The wife was so happy. She said her family was more important than a house, but she was really grateful. She said the fire made her realize what she truly loves. Toni: Firefighters? Brad: hard not to.

firefighters always risk their lives for others… for which we should be always grateful

Firefighters, cops, rescue units, military, all serve and sacrifice for The People.

I can agree to that.

Sometimes we all need to be made to realize what we truly love, even if it means a sacrifice in something else. We, as well as everything else on this planet are only temporary, and a terrible fire can sometimes serve as a reminder. While you are here, extend yourself and help someone else breathe a little easier. You’ll look in the mirror and see a better person looking back at you.

They really need to stop talking and get some sleep if they are getting married later on in this Luann Day.

There used to be someone on the rec.arts.tv.soaps.abc boards who tallied up the action on ALL MY CHILDREN and calculated how many days passed per year in Pine Valley.
.
It was usually less than 100.
.
2003 contained only 52 days, as you can see here …
.

Assuming the above rate of passage to be internally consistant – which it never was on AMC, by the way – and applying it to, oh say comic strip characters, that particular formulation would suggest that characters age 52 days per each calendar year, or about 1/7 as quickly as we do in the “Real World.”
.
Your mileage may vary.

Every Christmas I make two big trays of hand dipped chocolates to take to our local fire station (one for each shift.) It is just a small “thank you” for everything they do for us.

Some events really make a person take stock of their lives.
Did anyone else notice that the mom looks like Bernice??

Wish I could post a photo, but saw one yesterday among the fire photos from the Great Smoky Mtn Natl Park fires. There were 2 trucks (appeared to be pumper trucks) with 1 firefighters shown loading up equipment. Two were obviously taking a break and had their gear off. One was lying on the asphalt in his socks, t-shirt and shorts, arm over his head, bottle of water in the other. You could just feel the exhaustion.

This panel is very timely while Tennessee burns. Firefighters deserve recognition. Great ending to a great story.

> For those who were unhappy to miss the actual scenes of firefighting by Toni and Brad, here is a little remembrance.>Actually, today is a chance to miss it again. Not only are they not fighting a fire in this flashback, there’s no evidence that there is, or ever was, a fire. The house and lawn are undamaged and seemingly unthreatened. From all appearances, Brad may just as well have been paying a social visit on this homeowner. This is a strip that eschews action and will always let everything exciting happen “off-camera” and then just have people talk about it afterwards, and that’s that. Think of it as the inverse Dick Tracy.

The real threat to Americans is not having our guns taken away, but it is the usurping of our 1st Amendment Rights. I disagree with 4 ever and Easily Amused, but they have a right to say it. Read Andrew Shepherd’s speech from The American President (1995). It pretty much covers it. Then compare it to what is being tweeted today.

And a call out and kudos to everyone fighting fires in the Smokey Mountains as well as on the west coast.

About time: At least in Luann’s World, time does creep along. But in so many other comics there is no passage of time, Artists change, but the characters don’t. Poor Beetle Bailey, in the Army for 65 years, no promotions. And Miss Buxley shows up every Wednesday in her little black dress and string of pearls. There is absolutely nothing to anticipate.

Right now, I’m enjoying the intimate time that Brad and Toni are sharing. Two young adults on the brink of starting a life together, no distractions from family or friends. The way it should be.

In relation to panel 2 , I heard just that same sentiment in relation to the ongoing fires all over. Massive destruction in Alabama.

There, forty minutes of letting some steam out. Of course, there are many causes of emotional shallowness, maybe even as many as faking it, and the range is wide. The article was pretty interesting. If you missed it, i deleted it. The piece was just such an echo of that comment reveling in emotional shallowness.

I hope these drowsy, exhausted firefighters can stay awake for their own wedding, and the reception, and at least a part of their wedding night….

This is sweet and nice, and really thanks first responders, whom our wedding couple are heroically drawn to be. They are so nice to see close together as well. Just more nice ways to kill time until the 11th? 11 days. Unless its, surprise, before.

I’ll go along with Mrs. Horner showing up, but a lot of the other guesses are mostly part of Luann’s social circle, like Aaron Hill and Elwood Druit. It’s possible, but unlikely, we’d see any of them. But then again, the Sheriff did seem to be suggesting that we’d “never guess” who’s going to be there, so maybe the likely guesses are wrong.
Greg and Karen have been seen before, so there’s a decent chance they’ll show up. Ann Eiffel does indeed have a history with Brad, but this makes me think she’s bloody *un*likely to show up, unless it’s with some sort of court order.
Diane was never really interested in Brad, though he crushed on her. I don’t see why he’d bother to track her down, much less invite her.
Dirk and his wife are a bit more likely to get an invitation from Toni, but I can see Brad accidentally losing their invitation at a convenient fire.
I wonder if Stan Lee will have a cameo!
Dagwood and Blondie Bumstead? Mike and Deanna Patterson? Sally and Ted Forth?
Mam’selle Hepzibah?
Barnaby and Mr. O’Malley?

ooooo … what about Cathy and Irving! (since one character from their strip was already featured). Or a drawing of the person who submitted the winning dress design!
