Luann will very soon tell her dad that her room is cleaned up!
And then, she’ll take the next 6 years deciding what to bring back in from the hall and what to toss out.
Undecided stuff will sit in the hall until sometime after she moves out on her own. (Which may never occur. She may prove to be their hapless daughter who can’t support herself with a real job.)
The Moment of Truth: Luann will admire her clean room for a few minutes. THEN, she will step into the hallway and be confronted with having to decide what she is actually willing to get rid of.
So what does she do with all that stuff to “minimizes”? She can either give it away, dump it in the garbage, which brings up landfills, and environmental issues, or she can sell some, or give some away. My bet, as poor as it probably will be, is that this is where the arc is going. This is her youth, now she is taking a step to adulthood, so what happens to all that history?
Hey Lu? Take a Good Hard Look at that Stuff in the Hall. Now, remember How much You PAID for it as Compared to How many times You actually used it. Then Think of the Money You could have saved if You Hadn’t bought it in the first place.
And Do it before Your Dad gets home and has a STOKE when He sees all that JUNK in the Hall.
While the “cleaning room” arc is not the most comically exciting arc for me, I do have to 100% agree with Luann’s idea about “Space = Peace”. I do know that when my wife and I worked very strenously to declutter much of our home a few years ago, that it was much more calming of an environment and we truly noticed and greatly appreciated how it helped our emotions in that regard. Slowly the clutter has crept back in, and my wife and I are planning a new major de-cluttering session.
I think my favorite part of today’s comic is seeing Puddles simply watching the action. I am glad Greg included him in today’s effort.
The moment Frank starts carrying everything in the hall out to the dumpster will be the moment Luann realizes that she is still attached to her things.
Moving the pile of crap from Luann’s bedroom to the hallway doesn’t make it any less a pile of crap. nor solve the problem it creates! It’s time for Warden Nancy to lay down the law!

Whoever said the hallway would be crowded with Luann’s stuff yesterday was right.

Is Luann becoming a follower of Joshua Becker?

The peace will end when Frank comes home and sees that hallway. Ok, Brad, it’s time to skedaddle!

Dumping that whole pile would just be a reminder that everything in this system of things is temporary…

NOW what is Luann going do with all the unneeded items which are in the hallway?

@JPuzzleWhiz: You wouldn’t happen to know a Comics Kingdom poster named Bob Tice, by any chance?
Nope. Doesn’t ring any bells.

The guru, Luann, will find that an empty room is just boring.

Good punch line from Brad.

Looks like the only way to dispense with that huge load without taking forever is to beam it aboard a Klingon ship!

If I were one of her parents all that stuff in the hall would get hauled off to Goodwill.

Will there be enough time left on Brad’s 150 minutes of Brother/Sister “fun” coupon for Brad to haul that stuff out to the curb?

Been doing this myself for about a year, getting closer to peace.

With everything that has been going on in the strip, THIS is the new arc we get??

Crowding with man-made objects makes it hard to keep peace. That’s why I use an organic computer.
(Yeah, right.)

perhaps Nancy will have more emotional difficulty in Luann disposing of some items than she would. Memories of her little girl?

The gift to her dad said nothing about the hallway, which will be next year’s present to him. Hint: She will move it back inside her room.

is Puddles the dog in that pile in the hallway?

See the ad to the left that says"sweaters for men" ? Would anyone wear that ugly brown, weirdly buttoned one?

I wonder what Pru did for the holidays. She didn’t seem to spend any of it with the DeGroots. Maybe she went back to NY to see her family?
