Thatā€™s one of teh problems with having 500 channelsā€¦lol. One always wonders if something better is on another channel.

Perhaps too much choice is as bad as too little

Gotten so I do that almost daily, just looking for familiar films from any decade or something that might be interesting. Get a lot of thumb practice but very few long pauses.

One thing I note is that, unlike some books, many movies donā€™t go into the public domain. Thus, many great films with excellent casts and/or storylines have been rounded up into blocks by companies who charge for them. Not that I would mind if royalties were still being paid, but I doubt they are.

Yeah, I know. A dozen online movies at the lowest price would just about equal the current prices at theaters for one film, but Iā€™m still not going to ā€˜joinā€™ all the different fee takers.

Iā€™ve found my viewing habits have completely changed over the years. I used to aimlessly channel surf with cable trying to find something to watch. With streaming services I just decide what I want to watch and locate it.

I think the problem with so many channels is that quality programs are now harder to find as everyone is trying to fill their channel with rubbish fillers and repeats. When we only had a few channels to pick from, there was more quality. Donā€™t get me wrong ā€“ there was rubbish in those days as well, just a smaller percentage.

Most of my day is spent with the TV off. My TV set is going to last for another couple of decades unless the mildew rots the components on the inside.

I donā€™t even turn the set on ā€œfor noiseā€ when I am in the house alone anymore.

Of all the channels and programming I get, I watch less than 1% of it.

I remember a song in the ā€™80ā€™s that was titled ā€œ57 Channels and nothings on!ā€
