When Manhattan breaks off from the mainland watch the clock slowly go out of sync with the others.

Good one Wylie for taking the classic New Yorker cover & taking it to a new level.

I must admit that I love the US but every time I visit there I chuckle when I watch the ‘world’ news on TV. On the other hand I admit that when your country is the size of a continent…

Just got back from there. Always love visiting Manhattan. For those who are familiar with the establishment Juniors (the mothership in Brooklyn, the property has been sold and they’re going to relocate somewhere (no one knows where yet) and then move back once the development is done. At least that’s the plan.

I see Wiley got nominated for a Ruben. I enjoy his strip more than the others. Especially that Pastis guy. I still can’t understand how a strip can win for creating annoying characters.

Reminds me of a cafe here that was a mainstay until last year, a fixture there was a set of clocks on the back wall, one from every time zone…..It was a kitschy novelty, but this makes me wish the days of that place were back in style…..the place opened in 1949.

I lived near Boston for a while. If it didn’t happen inside 128, it didn’t happen.

When you cross the border between Texas and Arkansas you must turn your clock back 50 years!

As far as I can see, nothing ever happens in the rest of the world….Well, unless it involves Americans, that is… or involves a church bus with 60 orphans on board falling 2054 feet over a cliff onto a quaint little village and exploding in a ball of flame……….I wonder why that is? Seriously, where’s our BBC? cabalonrye, yeah, it’s big country, but what to cover is still a choice……But I think the real reason is that we are Ameracentric…..In other words, it’s all about us…..

The hype on the US national news is getting annoying. ABC World News with Diane Sawyer is all about how bad it is and what are we/they going to do. little tease clips about a story coming up to kept you tuned in. Walter Cronkite is turning over in his grave.

After reading a few comments here, I figured that Wiley was not referring to the time zones across the US, but to well-known places in or near New York City, some of which will have fallen into or been inundated by the Atlantic Ocean, by the time this scene is shown.

I believe the country cabalonrye is referring to as “your country” is cabalonrye’s native country, Australia, which is the only country that is also a continent.
