How can Starbucks engage customers in dialogues? They’re too busy making 20 Frappuccinos a minute.

I recently had a pleasant conversation with a cute nurse about how she had met her husband because of coffee, He’d asked her if she wanted to go get a drink with him…She said “No” because she didn’t drink. He asked her for coffee, she said “Yes” And the rest was history…I had to admit that I mostly drank Taster’s Choice…..This pleasant conversation took place during a prostate biopsy with tens of thousands dollars modern machine up my butt….Pleasant conversation though…….

Tried Starbucks many years ago(in NY state). Lukewarm and FAR too many flavours and extras. I´ll stick to coffee in a spanish bar.

Thank you. THANK YOU!!! Sometimes, a cup of coffee is just a cup of coffee. Besides, when someone complains about the price of a gallon of gas while holding a 16 oz. latte that cost the same amount, it’s hard to take them seriously about pretty much anything.

If you like coffee, get the AMERICANO – it is just espresso with hot water but you get an excellent coffee taste that is better than just plain coffee. And yes, that has to be one of the dumbest ideas in the history of marketing.

It’s not the “social engineering” that turns me off of $tarbuck$, it’s the quality of their roasts. There is a fine line between roasting coffee beans to bring out their complexity and burnt beans, and the Buck$ bunch crosses it every time.

If I am going to walk in and buy a cup of coffee I prefer the small town atmosphere of a local diner over the hip urban environment fostered by many of the carefully marketed chains. In my eyes the former is much more conducive to a true free form discussion of topics, although sitting back in a corner in either type will give you a pretty good insight on the flavor of the neighborhood.

star who? Neva heard of it; that coffee is real she delivers. In a windy and cold morn it’s plenty social as is. Flo is OK.

Try Costco Starbuck’s. I don’t think they have it in Sumatra, but what they do have is at a good price.

I’ve never been to Starbucks, or Mount Kilauea. If offered a choice, I’d go with the volcano.

Starbucks won’t open up a franchise here in Reykjavík – probably because their coffee is beaten by far by the joints around here (Icelanders looooove their coffee).

To those complained about “burnt” Starbucks. I recommend the Sumatra or Komodo Dragon. There is variation within the “dark” category, and they are on the lighter side of it. One caveat: Consistency of freshness. Not every bag is a winner.

Like everything, hunger is the best sauce. If you just crawled out of the snow and cold into the only warm place in sight, any cup of coffee would be be the best cup of coffee you’d ever tasted…

Don’t watch TV, the radio is almost always off, and I chose what news I read on line. I’ve gotten very good at ignoring internet ads, I couldn’t even tell you what’s on the Go comic site today otehr than “Comics’ books”
