Don’t worry guys. Newspapers may go away. But we will still be with you online.

Which means the comic syndicates will also disappear!!!

I cant even got the OC Register delivered here anymore…I miss reading paper funnies…plus, my sill putty wont pick up cartoon images from my computer screen!

Oh, Chip, please a book full of Overboard…we need it, I have Overboard plus the two first ones BUT all those from the last few years……………………PLEASE.

No worries mates, lots of us old swabbies have figured how to find you on the net. Fair winds and following seas.

Several years ago the Seattle PI stopped publishing but still lives online. The last remaining daily The Seattle Times print edition is a fraction the size it used to be. Like the Comics I get all my news now online.

I understand the lament of newspapers going away, but paying a dollar or more for news that’s 12-16 hours old just does not fit today’s consumer. I was looking for updated election news by the minute.

there are still small town papers but they can’t afford a nice big comics page.

Thank heavens for GoComics. I haven’t bought a newspaper in years.

This is what happens when you let three companies buy all the available media in every city.

I’ve had a paper delivered for more years than I can count. They dropped the Sunday version years ago. Now, they’ve dropped the Monday printed version and only provide an on line version for that day. I no longer have a paper delivered as I’ve cancelled the subscription altogether. Don’t give me less product and still charge the same.

Will the next comic be whining about the loss of Butter Churns and Buggy Whips? Printed paper newspapers are dinosaurs that are a waste of resources and a pain in the butt to recycle. And it’s not like they’re any better edited or fact checked then their digital drivel replacements.

I like the comments in the online versions of comics. Sometimes they’re funnier than the actual comic. Too bad GoComics HIDES most of them by default, and then hides every reply.

I’ve subscribed to our locall paper, “The Sentinel” for years! Tip the carrier every Christmas too.

I suppose those of us who switched to reading the comics online, like I did years ago, for whatever reason, share some of that blame. Both main papers in my area are weekly only anymore. Then again, the economics of buying the paper everyday for just the comics and some news content (just not all of it) weren’t working for me.

Our local paper, see my comment above, has been in existence since 1920. I started reading it as a little girl. Of course, the Comics is what brought me to the paper to begin with. When I still couldn’t read, my mom would read them to me. I used to look at the drawings and copy the characters in my own hand. My art teachers thought I did a really good job. I was accepted at an art school after graduation. I didn’t go. It was during the Viet Nam war, so I got married to my boyfriend instead. Well, I now have 2 beautiful sons and a grandson so I guess sometimes you give up one thing for another. Even if at the time, you don’t realize it.

The two newspapers I subscribe to are now being mailed to me everyday. So today I got Friday and Saturday. I’ll get the Sunday papers Monday, or on Tuesday if it’s a holiday.

I quit taking the paper when they cancelled my favorite comics. Glad to have GoComics.

Now that’s the stuff nightmares are made of!

No matter how we all find the comics, I’m thankful for ’em—not to mention all the fun in the Comments sections …

…and a bunch more of them have whittled down their comics sections. The Chicago Sun-Times used to run Overboard for quite a while—I even sent them a letter thanking them for running it—but later they reduced their comic section and Overboard got the axe. Booooo….

I get comments at work about being a dinosaur because I still get the paper delivered every day.
