Would you settle for a Pulitzer for writing out “The Green Ship Stinks” in daisies?

If he knew what the prize was awarded for, he’d have more realistic dreams.

So the pirate ship has a mailbox on the ice locked ship’s frozen lake?

Couldn’t they just have plunked the mailbox a little closer to the ship so they wouldn’t have to walk so far? After all the mailbox will sink to the bottom in the springtime when the ice melts.

By now my grandfathers copies of Burpee, Gurney’s, & Park’s would be dog eared and have scores of indecipherable notes scribbled in them with his dreams for his garden in the coming season. I so miss those days.

You can lead a horticulture, but you can’t make her think.

Finally they’ve arrived

Several years ago I bought 5 plants (not seeds) from the most well known seed catalog. They arrived dead. Not doing that again.

Norman Borlaug won the Peace Prize for his Green Revolution vastly increasing crop yields worldwide. Work is still needed on distribution.

I really envy Charlie—-I’m a notorious brown thumb and I pity any plant that has the misfortune to fall under my care…

…except the most insidious breeds of weed that have thorny spines, making removal a (literal) pain…sigh…

The first? I thought Chauncey Gardener already won that.

Recently received notice of sale of a special Tiger Lily. Looking outside to the place where they’d be planted, which now is eight feet under snow, its difficult to order, given the circumstances. Seed catalogues and February — so much despair!

Good stuff often starts with a dream. Keep believing, Charley.
