Was that the story about the golfer from Monday, or the skater from yesterday?

It could have been worse. They could have used the pages of your manuscript to line their bird cages.;-D

Look on the bright side, Snoopy. At least you got your story ‘out there’ in the world, instead of it sitting buried on some second-rated editor’s desk.

Dear contributor, for a moment we though we had a winner of a joke book on our hands as we laughed our heads off, until we got halfway down the first page and realized you were serious.

None of our editors managed to make it past page 6 including Jake, our resident insomniac who is keeping his copy in lieu of renewing his prescription for heavy medications to go to sleep.

Nonetheless, we found it quite useful. We’ve used it to wrap fish heads, line the box where we have a litter of puppies and mixed with other manure, it gives just the right texture to our compost heap. Speaking of which, the additional copies were distributed to various outhouses in the Ozark Mountains where I am sure they will be appreciated.

Just because the story is bad doesn’t make it OK to litter.

Nowadays authors send their queries via email. The agent quickly deposits said partial manuscript into the email trash can. I wonder sometimes if they even read them.

It is standard procedure to include SASE when sending a manuscript if you want it back, Snoopy. You were lucky to hear from them at all. ( that is Self Addressed Stamped Envelope).

Publishing is like marriage – You’ve heard of it. Your friends have all done it. But somehow, it’s just never happened to you no matter how hard you’ve tried.
