why is it that the husband is always borderline rude to the wife’s family but the average wife will go out of her way to be nice to his family. I have seen it in my family and it also happens in my family. or is it just me
I remember fabric stores. I went to one and asked to see ecru thread and proceeded to measure the diameter with a micrometer. They were totally confused until I explained I was repairing a ship model at the maritime museum and that is what’s used for the running rigging. They took it calmly on repeat visits.

Must be your luck. I always got along better with my wive’s families than I did some of my own relatives.Even after divorces, they remained friendly with me – even if the ex’s didn’t.
pugglesThe device clamped a wheel over the fabric. It measured the cloth being pulled through it. Unlike the yardstick on the table, it was unaffected by any stretching of the cloth and so gave a more accurate measure.

brilliant bargain… but is Opal’s sister going to be nice to Earl? nothing like a sibling-in-law rivalry

When I was a kid, I was fascinated by the gadget they use to measure fabric.

Get it in writing, Earl. Otherwise she’ll have a “senior moment” and insist you join her next week, not next year.

I wouldn’t settle for that. Opal would have to make it permanent.

Pearl, what fabric store do you go to? Because now that Hancock’s out of business we don’t have many choices left. JoAnne’s? Hope they stay healthy.

If Obama could get the Nobel Peace Prize for doing nothing, why can’t Earl get a Pulitzer for poetry?

I don’t mind going to the fabric store with my wife. I stay in the car and get a good nap.
