You asked for dinner conversation, Opal, you received it. Now you pick a topic with which Earl can agree.

Dinner conversations is for people who don’t spend all day together.

And I like it quiet when I eat.

My mother would always provide a sound track at dinner, et cetera. ;-)

She did ask!

You know Opal, it is not polite to talk with your mouth full!

Must be a distant relative of Earls?

I used to tell my children not to talk with their mouths open.

As long as the wink didn’t involve the raising of the tail…

I don’t like having conversations with people who’ve turned criticism into an Art Form, either…

Opel needs to go visit her sister for a few days.

Our dinner conversation consist of, what do we want to eat. Man it tastes good and what movie do you want to watch tonight.

There’s no conversational skills….they focus on zinging each other instead of communicating intelligently ….

When you’re with someone almost 24/7 for a number of months in a relatively small apartment, it isn’t exactly easy to have a scintillating dinner discourse every night.

Our dinner table and Jeopardy go together like a horse and carriage.

I dunno. That sounds like a kind of interesting topic to follow up on.

She talks enough for a party of 4.

Come over here and sit on my lap and we can watch that loaf of bread dough on the counter rise, and dream.

So, a monkey making a pass at Earl is not worthy of discussion? Opal could at least ask if the monkey was married.

A valid point to not talking much during a meal is you are not tasting the food. That really bugs me if the food is good. If the food sucks, talk away.

I actually noticed this in the Sound of Music, when Maria keeps talking during her first meal with the family, and Captain (?) Von Trapp asks Maria to be quiet so they can eat.

He told you something Opal, however with your attitude and response. I’d rather just eat too. How about you talking …..ooops no we don’t want that, just keep eating.
