Ours prefers our sofa to his scratching post, the bathtub faucet to his water bowl, flea-infested rats to his cat food, and our yard to his litter box.
Tigger was about 6 years old when I got him and he was declawed just in the front. I don’t have this problem thank god. I’ve known other cats to shred curtains, couch arms, etc. YIKES! Earl seems dazed, doesn’t he?
It’s too short, for one thing, a cat should stretch its body while scratching. One purpose of scratching is marking territory and the height of the scratches shows how big you are. No one is going to respect your territory if you can only scratch one foot above the ground

It looks like the kind of scratching post that a heavy cat could knock over. When my kitten matured, I had to get a bigger scratching post.

Are you sure that Muffin is a cat and not a vampire?!!

I have never seen a cat yet who would use a scratching post, especially when there is perfectly good furniture to destroy.

That is not the cat that I would want to live with.

That cat would either find himself living on the street or have a very short life.

So, Earl’s retirement does have a purpose…

My cat has totally shredded her scratching post, but occasionally claws on the chairs, the rug and the sofa!
Still it’s a mostly win solution!

Yep, the $39 would have been better spent buying Earl some bandaids!

My three cats use the roof support posts on the front porch. They’re (the posts) cedar 4×4s.

Are you sure your cat isn’t really a dog? Our dog chewed on the siding on the house.

My son’s cats enjoy sleeping on the scratching gym thing but they prefer the back of the sofa for real claw relief.

Thats why you de-claw those animals.

Must they remind me of the Siamese cat pet of twin friends? It’s been dead at least five decades, but my scars look fresh.

Ours got declawed when he drew blood in his sister’s eye. Nearly blinded her and the meds caused her to lose over half of her weight.
