I am extremely lucky. Married over 50 years, and my husband has always done the laundry.

My mother taught me how to do laundry when I was 8, and I’ve been doing it ever since. I even had to teach my privileged wife how to do it.

And that’s the carpet cleaning sorted to.

Hasn’t Earl ever used a washing machine before? Seriously, it’s not rocket science.

The usual comedy skits have the washing machine produce an avalanche of suds.

At home, i use the requisite capful of liquid. At my GF’s place, the first time she showed me, two liquids one of which goes in the agitator center and Borax powder. I forgot which liquid goes where so use one, no agitator, and the the Borax. Winging it. Nothing’s gone perceptibly wrong.

I actually laughed out loud!

Keep wondering why Opal let it pile up so badly like that in the first place. Aside from the fact that it was just a lead-in to today’s strip.

She should have sat down and put her feet up … and relaxed.

Oh good grief.

when you cannot use the leaf blower… a flood might work

Learned at a young age the joy of drop off service. You would never try and dry clean your suits and coats so why not the same aspect with laundry..

Great. Another job Earl won’t have to do in the future.

Apparently the stupid, inept husband comedy well is not depleted. Now do woman driver jokes.

I think they’re gonna need a new washer…

The big puzzle is how was he able to hold a job especially one that appears to pay a good pension. Maybe he could have worked in Goodwill sheltered workshop.

We bought a new washer awhile back. I don’t have the foggiest idea how to figure out all those knobs and symbols!

Surprised there isn’t 4 feet of suds on it, too.

Roscoe says the water is not mine.

The only time this happened to me – water overflowing the machine – was when I turned a dial for wash size and it didn’t click into place, so the machine didn’t get the signal that it was full enough. Fortunately, that machine was in an outhouse. There was another time, my first use of a washing machine away from home, when I put in way too much detergent and an amazing amount of suds spilled onto the kitchen floor.

Roscoe is making sure that Opal doesn’t blame him for the problem.

Our home laundry system is about as idiot-proof as can be, or my dear wife would never make me use it.

Only two people so far praising Earl for being incompetent? It does not look like he faked it, since he offered to do the laundry.

Why…WHY would she even THINK of trusting him???

Opal didn’t notice there was water around her ankles until Roscoe whined?

That is an awful lot of water for 10 minutes.
