It really depends upon how many hairs he wants cut.

Last haircut with beard trim was $40 at a walk-in shop. Even with the senior discount. And I’m nearly bald.

No Hair … No Haircut … No need to trim a dead tree ;-)

I do my hair with a 79 yo Sears (Wahl) hair trimmer and a #5 blade.

Haven’t been to a barber in over eight years. Wife cut my hair and now for the past year plus, I shave it once a week.

I (female) go to a barber shop for trims. The atmo in there is so much more pleasant than the salon I go to for colour. Men seem to gossip but not as maliciously as women.

Well, sure, we never did, because we don’t go to one of those high-falutin’ fancy-pants fru-fru “hair stylist” places that set up appointments! Good ol’ Joe the barber always took walk-ins, you just took a seat and a magazine (or comic book when we were kids) and waited your turn, if it came to that.

My barber retired a few years ago. Can’t find another like him. Did find a guy who can do a decent job but there’s very little English spoken around me and I’m a little uncomfortable with that. I don’t know what’s going on. Just get it done and get out. But it’s either that or be styled, or coiffed, or some such for huge prices after having to make and keep an appointment for a specific time and I neither need nor want that. All I want is to walk in and get a decent haircut. To echo my comment on Zack Hill, I miss 1950.

All the regular barber shops around here have all turned into men’s salons and shave parlors. Still the same employees and equipment, they just went from $12 to $75 or more. Now I go to a chain hair place on men’s discount day. Still $23 plus tip.

Anymore, I just shave my head in the shower every couple of days and I’m good.

I remember my dad’s last haircut… he went to a greatclips or something like that, an’ the gal asked him if he wanted a #1… he didn’t think to ask what a #1 even was, so he said “sure!” It was so short, he didn’t even need another haircut again! (moral of story: if you don’t know what a #1 haircut is, be sure to ask! lol!)

I call. But it’s not really necessary. He’s a really nice guy and it’s more about the banter. Plus, I like to go early and make sure that he’ll be there. :)

The barber has the same haircut as the customer!

My wife told me she’d cut my hair, but she doesn’t because she’s afraid she’ll mess it up. I still have some hair up there! I go to a barber because those “quick cut” places do not use a straight razor!

I haven’t had a haircut since the pandemic. My wife became an expert barber courtesy of youtube academy…

There is one drop-in barber shop in my neighborhood. All employee owned. And they do a great job. They even polish my bald spot. :)

when I was a little kid, I’d walk to the local barber about a mile away… an old Italian guy… Charlie was his name. My mom always wanted it finished up with whatever hair holding stuff he used. When he was done cutting, he’d always ask me with his strong accent “You vant it a vet orra drry?” He’d wet it up, comb it nicely, and by the time I got home it felt like my hair was just a big hunk of plastic or somethin’… gosh how I hated that!… (ahh… good times, good times! lol!)

Been cutting my own since March 2020. It was a little hairy at first (pun intended), but once I got the hang of it, as well as a tri-fold mirror to hang on the bathroom door so I can see the back, I’m good with it.
