Honesty is the best policy…..or is it?

He just wants a ticket as proof that the DeSoto can go that fast.

In some countries… they would still throw the book at him!

That was a question that cannot be answered, without self-incrimination. You didn’t see the sign — guilty of driving without due care and attention. You did see the sign — guilty of willfully ignoring the posted speed limit.

Don’t think that explanation works.

But I need a lead foot to make a car this heavy move, sir!

Honesty.

Not the best beginning of a conversation with a police officer ‘Cosmo’ ! ! !!

I do not think that excuse is going to wash.

Once had a cop pull me over for speeding and asked me the usual question “Do you know how fast you were going?”

To which I responded, “No, officer, I don’t! I think my speedometer is out of whack and not giving me a true reading.”

Long story short, I eventually got a faulty equipment order from him, rather than a speeding ticket.

I’m surprised the Desoto can even reach the speed limit without the help of a steep downhill grade.

A friend was stopped for an illegal left turn. The cop said, “Didn’t you see the 11 signs?” Her reply — “I only saw one.”

That DeSoto deserves an award for still being capable of speeding.

The fins got in the way.

Give him a point for honesty & don’t shoot him.

Good answer. I will try that next time.

1957 Desoto sedan top speed was 110-120 mph. 0-60 was about ten seconds, but you have to consider that Corvettes of the ’50s were only marginally faster. Golden Hawks and Hornets ruled production cars.

He must have the 383 engine.
