“shorter games or entertaining games”? I haven’t seen this guy, but seems like watching that wind up would be entertaining for 1, 2 at the most, batters.
What’s more important is maximizing revenue. Those who will not watch a longer game are beginning to outnumber those who want a real game. MLB assumes those who watch baseball won’t leave because of the new revenue enhancements.
Watched an inning (just 1) of Yankees/Giants. TV network displayed the clock after it reached 5 seconds. I guess they want me to stick around for the play. Got to see a kid get his 1st MLB hit and a stolen base…
It’s the advertisements! When I was a kid, the game was played non-stop and the play was recapped when the commercial break was over. Today (and for years), games have been three-four hours to accomadate all the commercial breaks! meanwhile, the White Sox pay almost nothing on the loan they received from Illinois. Their repayment plan is based soley on tickets sold at the gate. They give much away. Today, the Illinois Sports Authority is running a $207 Million dollar deficit, funding and refunding renovations on Guaranteed Rate and Soldier Field as well as DePaul’s Center. the citizens are being taxed for these boondoggles while the wealthy owners are being given essentially a free ride with corporate welfare.

Todays strip features a special appearance by Jerome, Coach George and Jerome’s granddaddy. Sure didn’t see that coming.

Is that true? Did they make Luis Garcia change his windup? That doesn’t seem fair, if true.

Baseball is my favorite sport, although it’s a sport (like golf) I’d rather play than watch. Watching it does have its moments.

What MLB should really do is pre-record the games, then edit out everything but the pitches that produce some action on the field.

Didn’t stick it out to see who won.

What a bunch of bologna. Field time might be shorter but commercials will be longer.

Reminds me of Luis Tiant, who should be in the Hall of Fame.
