The Dollar Store, now known as the Buck and a Half Place. Where you may select any item on the bottom shelf on the left side of the second aisle, everything else is higher.
The government bragged that the Social Security payments went up the most ever this past year. With inflation I am making 4% less than I did last year. Thank goodness I have other income. I feel for the elderly that live on SS alone.
When I was still working, performance reviews, promotions, and raises would be done in December. But the insurance costs would not be determined until January. There were a few years when the insurance increase more than cancelled out the raise. Sometimes even a nice promotion did not protect you. By the time taxes and insurance were deducted, you were taking home less.

You’ll have your weekly paycheck two times. At half the amount.

Considering how stingy Chiefey is, any raise is a good raise.;-D

I wouldn’t be so sure of that. More likely it will result in ten less things.

I just got a raise too. Now I can afford an eighth of a tank of gas each week.

You can buy one more dollar store item only if it’s non sales taxable.

Our favorite is Dollar Tree, but now it’s $1.25 Tree. I can’t blame them, and it’s still a great place to buy trinkets for grandkids.

Take your wins when you can get them no matter how little they are.

Though not a very high a sign of bossman’s approval, it’s another sign that Brutus’ job is secure, albeit very low payed.

Just be aware if they say you get a $200.00 raise, that’s only ten cents an hour raise…

That’s like a 25% increase, isn’t it?

If I was him I would have kept that to myself, and not incentivize his spending machine. There wasn’t much to talk about anyway.
