Good point. That’s why they created the term of “oxymoron” to explain these things. Go figure. Though the moron portion of that word explains a lot….

It is called rush hour because it the hour of day that people are rushing to work in the morning and rushing home in the evening. The reason you go slow is because there too many people rushing at the same time. I wonder what it is called Russia, americaning?

I took my son to a college interview in a very big city. As we were stopped dead in traffic I noticed the sign that said minimum speed 45. Apparently drivers in big cities can’t read.

Because it’s such a rush when cars hit that spot where they’re finally able to get back up to speed..

I think part of the problem with backed up traffic is that when the light turns green, the first car starts to accelerate. Then the second car starts, then the third car. No matter what, if I can see the light, I try to start moving my car forward. We could get a lot more movement going on if everyone just started moving forward when they see the light change. I am not recommending a charge of wild drivers. Just get traffic to start moving forward faster, and more cars will get through each light. This “wait for the car in front to move” is what causes a portion of backed up traffic, in my opinion.
