A terrific short story called “The Things” describes the efforts of “The Thing” (of movie fame) to repay the kindness of the humans who rescued him from his frozen prison by endowing the poor creatures (doomed to spend their existences in just a single inflexible body) with his own shape-shifting ability. But they seem strangely unreceptive to his generosity.

Tell them to go back home. Chris Pratt is waiting for them.
