The next Adam Sandler movie??? Wow, this is a deep cut! I wasn’t even dating my future wife then. Sheesh, I was still mixed up with that weird Brazilian chick! (This slice of my life is brought to you by Old Spice®… my apologies for not being able to whistle the theme song.)
I knew a guy named Brett, Big Time NASCAR fan. Lost his license due to crashing his car into cornfields after drinking himself blotto and believing he was Dale Earnhardt Jr..
All-time greatest NASCAR moment. A few years ago, there was a car sponsored by TRUMP 2020. Crashed in the pit lane 16 laps into a 160 lap race. Put a big smile on my face.
I remember when Nascar was actually racing real world cars. Now it’s like F1 racing cars so high tech the only “stock” part of it is the passenger window shape. That is the only requirement to meet “stock” definition. All the rest stock references are stickers and wrap.
I grew up in a big city, next to a freeway. Any time I wanted, I could sit near the lanes and watch cars and trucks whizzing by, and occasionally crashing. But I seldom wanted to spend my time that way.
I loved Tom Wolfe’s piece on Junior Johnson. I read it in a magazine in the library when it came out. I wouldn’t be surprised if NASCAR does some kind of steganographic thing in TV shows. You need the decoder box that you can order from STP.

Everyone knows people only watch it for the wrecks. Kinda like politics.

That would at least explain NASCAR

That’s why I’m not interested in NASCAR.
