Spud always chooses the worst time to make a big splash in entertainment. Oh, the floaties!

Them’s the breaks.

That rock is in a bad place when the washing machine breaks. Someone’s liable to get a cracked skull.

The glare off of Spud’s bare chest blinded me and I missed the end of the strip!

Yeah, he’s got a great farmer’s – er, fisherman’s tan going there!

When Wallace tells you to move, you move!

Their expressions in the 5th panel are great.

Love how Will uses color in the word balloons to express emotion.

Had that happen in my navy days on Oahu. Doctor in the sick bay had to rinse the sand out of my ears.. totally plugged they were.

It’s why we play in the surf. Just for those moments….

At least Seagull is safe.

My wife learned “never turn your back on the ocean” that exact way in Hawaii. “Washing machine” is a true description.

I like the way the colorist made Spud’s chest so pale.

Never fun to eat sand. Body surfers try to move beyond the wave break quickly, for just this reason. Fun.

Against a wave like that? Yeah, they would be, Spud.

And no Amelia to witness it.

Next time, try it with the goggles Spud.

The safest thing to do in this situation is to dive head first into the middle of the wave. You’ll either break through to the other side or at least be lifted up as the water rises as it hits the beach.

You do have to be quick about it and when you come out the other side, watch out for the next one.
