Never try to re-capture your youth. It is tough and elusive and you only get to survive it relatively unscathed while you are young enough to heal quickly. Better you should help the new youths to build their memories and experiences which in turn they should never try to recapture. It is the cycle of living(not ‘life’, which is a whole different conversation).
As a Boy Scout in the late ’50’s, used to love going with our troop to the lower Sierras to camp out in the snow ! Had a favorite place not to far from our camp that rented sleighs and toboggans. What fun was had on those 4 place and 6 place toboggans, missing and dodging rocks ’n trees while doing so !
Our hill was 1/2 mile long – about a 30-degree slope – and was used as a bunny ski slope and toboggan run – had to be in control tho – at the bottom of the hill was a deep creek that was not frozen over. The trek back up definitely burned the calories. Good thing we were young and full of energy…

From Long Long Texas Road by Roy Drusky:
When you’re just a child there ain’t no time but now
Must have left that long old road seven hundred years ago
And I’d find it once again if I knew how
……………………………………..
If I knew then what I know now that would have messed it up somehow
When the day stretched out before me like a long long Texas road

I used to connect with my inner child, but I interrupted the connection because my inner child was throwing tantrums.

You know you’re old when you know what your coccyx is…and don’t laugh about it.

Well, that was a pretty short connection. One expected nothing less from the Fink.

I was in my hometown by chance the other day and went by the “hill” we used to sled as kids… it was about 4’ high.

I went back to the town and street I grew up on and found that the big hill where we used to sled was barely a hill at all.Must be erosion.

If you’re not certain that you’re old, get a second opinion by falling down in front of other people.
If they laugh, you’re not old. If they run over to help…
