Remeber when the group of us kids were palying. Of my playmates fell and skined his knee. His mom wasn’t immediately available to render first aid so he took care of it himself. Came out of the house with a sanitary napkin tied around his knee. We all thought it looked like the battle dressings inthe war movies and the rest of us were envious.
When I was six, I experienced an umbilical hernia, which resulted in missing school for surgery. Naturally, after the bandage came off, I brought the gross, disgusting bandage in for show-and-tell. :-D
I had the same thought more than once as a kid. I always hoped my little injuries would leave a scar. Two actually did: One is a tiny white diagonal line under the lip that you can just about see with a magnifying glass. The other is a vaguely pink puckering on the left knee that is rarely exposed when I’m dressed, is not very noticeable even when it’s not covered, and is not remotely interesting if you do notice it.

I had two really bad scars on my right calf from an accident. By the time I was an adult, they were barely visible. I can’t even find them now.

That is one oddly proportioned child. His legs are shorter than the toilet lid, but his torso and head are bigger.
Or maybe it’s just the toilet that’s weird.

I remember being disappointed that I couldn’t use my broken arm in show and tell. The teacher said that since I broke it on a school field trip …
