With the various hurricanes roaming in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico I have been reading about the 1900 storm that decimated Galveston. There are two books, Isaac’s Storm, by Erik Larson, and A Weekend in September, by John Edward Weems. I read them both about 10 years ago, but am re-reading them so that I can expound on various points of hurricane trivia to those people who will still converse with me. I won’t bore you folks, but I do recommend these books for a better understanding of hurricanes and their destructive power.
