My little dog challenges me to a chase every evening. Not easy for this octogenarian but I do chase her with increasing fury until she runs to “Mama” for protection. All the time her tail is wagging.
Alternate from the coffee cup and the tug o war with the same hand. Call it your morning workout. Share a little treat, a calming head on your lap… good for you both. And far less dismal than the ‘news’.
There will be a near infinite number of cups of coffee. Sadly, there are a very finite number of opportunities to play with your pal. Do the right thing.
Oh my gosh that is totally me and my cat. When we get up in the morning, the first thing he does is beg to play while I’m trying to eat something for breakfast.
This is my dog, Lilly. Only difference is, I can sit at the table, the sofa, the recliner no problem, but if I sit at the computer work station, play time is on.

You want a surprise in your shoe?

If he just played with the dog for a little while, then maybe he really could finish his coffee in peace.

You might want to trade up for a new owner!

I don’t think this guy gets how this works. Eleanor places her nose on my foot rest and I jump up to let her out to poop. Very simple.

Feelings, nothing more than feelings,
Trying to forget my feelings of love.
Teardrops rolling down on my face,
Trying to forget my feelings of love.
Feelings, for all my life I’ll feel it.
I wish you’d come and play with me, you’ll never play again.
Feelings, wo-o-o feelings,
Wo-o-o, feel you again throwing my toy.
Feelings, feelings like you’ll never play again
And feelings like I’ve never have you again in my yard.
Feelings, for all my life I’ll feel it.
I wish you’d come and play with me, you’ll never play again.
Feelings, feelings like I’ve never lost you
And feelings like you’ll never play again in my yard.
Feelings, wo-o-o feelings,
Wo-o-o, feelings again playing in the yard.

Of course, the dog knows. She just doesn’t care. She wants to play.

Those are my cats at 5AM. Hungry, not playful.
Minor break now thanks to DST, rapidly disappearing.

Oh, go ahead and play with the dog! Reheat your coffee later, if you need to.

Lilly just climbed up on the coffee table and is staring at my right ear because I’m not throwing her toy for her.
