I view many of the comics each morning, but I always save Calvin for the last. As it is the best comic ever devised for true laughter, and that is how I like to begin my day!!
I’ve never understood the complaints of parents who say their kids won’t go to bed. When I was growing up, we did as we were told. Granted, we might not go right to sleep, but we darned sure went to bed,
It helps if you’re prepared and know what you’re getting into, if you’re mature enough to realize that chidren change your life forever and that their needs come first and it requires lots of money and time to be a parent. Your childhood should be over when you decide to have your own. Otherwise it might be a good idea to choose to remain childless. Our children looked forward to bedtime because it was book time and we’d pick books we enjoyed and read them and it was peaceful. My first was born when I was 34 so I’d enjoyed all the pleasures of being both single and married-but-responsibility-free and didn’t resent having to provide for their needs.
Not to bust anybody’s bubble, I set the rules for bedtime when my oldest entered kindergarten. I’ve adjusted it over the years to reflect their maturity. No issues when it’s time to go to bed!
Miss Wingworm goes home at night minus Calvin. Calvin’s parents get him during the night she gets him during the day.I was very much like Calvin at that age. No wmy children are like me. What comes round goes round.
There’s a difference between physical discipline and abuse. If you truly love your child, you will figure out what training methods work. What works for one will not work for all.My parents used corporal discipline with all their children. I didn’t like it at the time, but they made sure I knew they were applying discipline because they loved me, not because they were mad at me.
I went to bed, but they payed for it — I was up asking for something every 5 minutes and it went on for hours. They deserved it — putting a kid to bed at 7:00 PM was/is ridiculous.

Stupendous Man and Spaceman Spiff all in the same week. I sure don’t envy Calvin’s parents.

I love the Spaceman Spiff adventures. The spaceship designs take me back to 1950s and 60s science fiction stories.
