So, it’s not wrong if you don’t get caught. The rationale of many people today.

Moms are annoying that way!

Interesting theory. So what mom doesn’t know won’t matter? Or, if I get away with it, it’s not a crime? Those pesky laws and rules, always getting in the way. /s

Neighbors’ kids across the street from my parents’ house got in the car and it rolled down the driveway into the telephone pole!!! I was sitting on the porch watching the action, LOL! No one was hurt and the pole was fine. I don’t even think the car suffered much damage, don’t remember, long ago.

So it’s really mom’s fault when you think about it (from Calvin’s perspective).

Calvin, Calvin… If you knew Mom was gonna say no, why are you doing it anyway?!

Maybe Calvin should have his pathological liar lawyer pay Suzy hush money not to tell her. Or maybe not, all things considered.

Note how Hobbes assumes the ‘skeptical parent’ body language. He is a great alter ego.

Follow the evidence Calvin. No car in the garage and you and Hobbes are the only ones around. Conclusion, guilty.

That is one heck of a conversation between a boy and a stuffed tiger!

Calvin is actually right when you think about it.

The worst that can happen is they send him to bed without dinner. No problem, he’ll just forge for grubs in the backyard

Would love to see how strong Hobbes is!

I cannot believe how many people follow Calvin’s philosophy…but the thoughts morph into “Now that I’m an adult, I’ll do what I want to, and if it’s wrong and if you find out about it, then I’ll just apologize.” What could possibly be wrong with thinking in that manner?

Maybe if Calvin did go to Mom and explain he and Hobbes were forming a secret club and wanted to use the garage for their headquarters, she MIGHT consider moving the car. But that might make too much sense.

Every time Calvin argues with Hobbes, Calvin should listen. Because he usually loses. Hobbes has much more common sense.

Calvin’s logic pushes the limits of that discipline.

Schrodinger’s Car — if mom doesn’t look to see if it’s in the garage, it’s in the garage.

Didn’t mom leave the car in “Park”? Or is this a retro manual?

(Deep sigh). Mom will find out, Calvin.

Is the garage door even open?

I’ve seen plenty of funny video clips of cars that kept on going, once the driver got out. “This is your stop.” I bet it must’ve been fun filing a claim with the insurance company!

The Mom would probably say no, but she’d also probably suggest a more ideal place for their clubhouse… like the tree fort they’d ultimately use.

Last panel is perfectly logical for Calvin. Maybe he will learn soon what Hobbes already knows.

I think I remember this one. It’s one of my favorites.

Why not just slap the brat???

Mom would know. Everybody knows. After all, this is a repeat strip.

see,… Calvin is the PERFECT example from the 80s why getting rid of spanking was a BAD BAD BAD idea!!

Difficult to fault Calvin’s logic

Let me guess: the car rolls down the driveway and across the road into a ditch?? Old story line, over and over again.

This has the makings of a sitcoms.

See a pattern to all that, Calvin?
