The enemy isn’t conservatism. The enemy isn’t liberalism. The enemy is nonsense ( the orginal quote uses an 8-letter word that begins with the letter “b”).

I listen to a certain talk radio show. The host’s name is Michael Smerconish. He’s generally conservative, but not an ideologue, and usually has common sense ideas about problems. I like his style and his substance, and I’m pretty sure he’s doing something right because callers from both sides of the political spectrum call in to complain about him occasionally.

…they talk about how our country is divided.Obama tries to see and work with both sides..and he gets yelled at for doing it.Time,my friends.Give hime time. After all,we gave Bush eight years to ruin things. Are we only going to give Obama one?And it’s easier to destroy then build.

Hey J-A Doty, I’ve been listening to NPR since dirt was invented and I’ve noticed that it’s harder and harder to find a classical music station during the daytime. Guess what’s taking its place… that’s right, call-in talk shows. ARRRGGGHHH!!!

How can Lieberman be a disappointment? He’s not a Democrat. His own party refused to nominate him in CT, so he won as an Independent last time around. If anything, he’s a disappointment to Independents, who had hoped that he exercise independent thinking and not go along with Obamacare.

mxyzptlk- If it was as easy as getting you righties to say your name backwards to make you all disappear. It would be my lifes mission. But that’s not the way it works. So we have to get a crowbar and pry open your minds.

USSA?!?! Thats where the right/neo-cons were taking us.

lieberman! the lowest of the low. no honor, no character, a person of very little or not quality.

Indeed, we’re all living under the tyranny of… a Democratic Congress and President duly elected by the voters of America.

That’s totally what the original tea party was about in 1773, right?

More to the point of today’s strip, I’m thinking that the far left should be more concerned with Lieberman and the other ConservDems, rather than the President.

(He’s really not the Liberal-Fascist Democratic Bush that was going to force through a Socialist agenda in his first 100 days, no matter what Rush and Palin and Billo and Boehner and Hannity and Orly Taitz and Bachmann and McConnell and Gingrich and Joe the Plumber and McCain and Dick Armey and FOX ‘News’ Channel and Drudge and the National Review are trying to tell you.)

Happy holidays to all, and may your God go with you.

Are atheists (people who believe there is no God) and agnostics (people who are not sure) allowed to enjoy the holiday also?

    Just asking.

As long as they’re willing to spend money and put up tacky decorations, atheists and agnostics are welcome to enjoy XMA$.

Hi Joe-Allen – Are you taking over for English Teacher? Isn’t it amazing how many people were sleeping during the lesson on “your” and “you’re”? And the lesson on “it’s” and “its”? And all the others, too? Well, we all make mistakes…

    Anyway, have a good day.

Well, I don’t have much excuse for my mistakes. I’ve never been much good at spelling, and I consider the spell-check one of the great inventions of the twentieth century. But syntax is like chocolate to me. I just love the way words fit together. Etymology is fun, too.

And on that point it’s interesting to note that the pagan Romans thought that the early Christians were atheists, since they denied the pantheon.

I truly understand his anger. Obama isn’t destroying America fast enough. He better “pick up” the ball. He’s only got this one term.

It is easy to throw bricks at Obama while we’re still in an economic maelstrom…Ronald Reagan had a tough time when *he* had to deal with >10% unemployment, but he benefited from the fact that getting Volcker to lift the stranglehold on interest rates did a lot to return the economy to growth (that and the incredible consumer frenzy that engulfed us all in the ’80s…ahhhh, those were some heady days)…but monetary policy was already loose when Obama took office. Now we have to wait on banks to start doing their jobs again in order for businesses to have the confidence that enough capitalization will be available in the market to allow them to expand and thus create jobs. We are not there yet, and it’ll probably not be until late summer 2010 before we really see any improvement (my prediction). So the liberals really need to show some patience here and give Obama room to maneuver, because if he is successful, he’ll then have the political capital to move the more liberal policies forward.

    From a previous comment:

“I have heard bulls bellowing in the pasture and since it didn’t make sense why they were making that noise, I just considered the bellowing also to be “bull.” ”

Low interest rates help borrowers get into debt. High rates help banks keep people in debt. They might start lending if they could charge more for the money.
