Something cooking on the stove (the grits Sparkle went out for?) Bet that plays a part in this! Gravel Gertie CAN’T be on the losing end of this!

Her best bet is to talk and try to stall for time.

Measles is doing it. All the stupid villains do it. —Talking instead of shooting. Gertie will have a chance to use her axe, or the hot skillet, before he finishes his exposition. And by then Tracy should be on the scene and ready to shoot if necessary, too. The junkie is a loser!

That’s it! She swings the AXE at the STOVE knocking the hot cooking grits onto Measles who is talking too much and then Tracy mops up the mess. Measles, prepare for vaccination.

Love the artwork in panel two. Looking at the stove, reminded of their famous “Stove with the built in TV” from the 70’s. The Plentys would sit around the stove to watch tv while they ate. Funny! Guess that old thing eventually gave out. Now I have seen refrigerators with the tv on the door. Wonder where they got that idea! lol

I can’t wait to see what Tracy will do.

Measles,if I was you I would run. That gun isn’t gonna help you much. Oh— be careful to check for bear traps.

Notice that the shovel in the coal bag is still visible in the second panel. Curtis and Staton have given Gertie yet another weapon to use against Measles. Tracy better hurry and get in there…for Measles’ sake.

Gertie right in front of him, Tracy to the rear: If Measles had more sense than drugs, he’d hightail it out of there. Kicking down the door, to let the leaves blow in, will not secure him his revenge, or mean that he will win. Yet gun trumps axe, as Sparkle knows, hidden out of sight. If she steps up to save her mom, I fear a dreadful fight. Let’s hope things don’t get ugly: kin dying to save kin. A tragic turn of gun-play: Junior a widower again.

Yes, there’s Sparkle to consider. She took an immediate dislike to Measles when they met at the store. Too bad Attitude isn’t home. I bet he’d be a real challenge!

This doesnt bode well for my boy measles! MAYBE if confronted by tracy, gertie and sparkle each with weapons, measles will just drop his weapon. at the moment, all they have him for is intent to distribute narcotics and breaking and entering…but i fear the worst for my boy in this instance!(power came back on yesterday afternoon finally.. its been out since monday!)

I came in to state it looks like nobody is watching “Harry’s Harrassment” while eating off the stove anymore, it must have worn out, only to discover it had already been mentioned. Literate Dick Tracy crowd here.

I really appreciate the way YOU appreciate the artwork in this strip. It helps me notice things I might otherwise have missed.

The swirling leaves have certainly contributed to the atmosphere of the story these last several days!

I read the strip first, then went to the comments. THEN I had to go back and read the strip again. I had forgotten what it was about.Good worrk, All!

So the artwork isn’t perfect. It’s what happens when a human being under a tight daily deadline draws it. Big deal. It doesn’t detract from the overall storytelling. We all still easily follow what’s going on. Complaining about minute details in the artwork is like demanding a refund on a Big Mac because it doesn’t look exactly like the picture on the menu board.

As any doctor can tell you, there’s a cure for measles.It’s just one well placed shot.

My biggest problem with todays strip is the coloring, by the GoComics colorist, of panel three. It is so dark I have trouble seeing the artwork. When Measles kicked in the door in yesterdays panel it was a light blue outside, It was also light blue outside their car windows the day before that, but as Tracy drives up it is now a dark purple. Nighttime sure falls fast.As for the ax head. I think some of it is a perspective issue, and some just artistic license. Panel one is the only panel that has the ax head being short behind the handle, but also Gertie is holding it pointed at Measles so it isn’t a side view like all of the other panels showing it. I also noted that the handle sticks up a bit through the top of the ax, so it is blocking the view of the ax head in panel one slightly. Actually, I think it looks about right when you consider those points. If you took panel two and spun it to look like panel one, I think you would realize that the ax looks just right.My two cents.

Somehow that ax will cut into Measles.

That first panel reminds me of the term “hatchet faced”

I think Da Putz found his meds. He’s quieted down. Isn’t Prozac wonderful!
