Oh, this is just brilliant. I can’t believe how much better Dick Tracy is than he was not so long ago.

I like Walt waving (goodbye?) to us. Still no clue what’s going on with all this, but it’s been fun.

Maybe down at Gitmo they should replace waterboarding with Flintheart film marathons! LOL

Looks like they’re wrapping up the Gasoline Alley detour. Will this fit somehow into a future case?

Well yeah, but this story popped up out of the blue and has no apparent relevance to what happened before. As Tracy fans we have a little sleuth in us that wants to know what’s up with all this and what crime(s) it is connected to.

……and WHEN do we get back to the other matter- the case of the mysterious Mysta.

This could be just a quick detour for no apparent reason and I would still love it. I think it’s fun just to see that “Ye Gods” look on Tracy’s face.

Oh, so now Sam’s an expert film critic, heh?! Although he may be right. In how many films (including D-class clunkers) has Vitamin Flintheart appeared, anyway? Tracy’s facepalm in panel 3 suggests there are pretty many….Thus, I think, concludeth our intermezzo.

I think Wiselad has it figured out. Walt Wallet is waving goodbye. When the current Gasoline Alley story arc is over, we can expect to see how Jim Scancarelli has decided to write Walt out of the script. I hope it isn’t the end of the Gasoline Alley strip altogether,

I figured it out so listen close… this wasnt some lead in to a big crime case in the least. it was a “sidebar” of sorts.. more like an intermission.. a little lighthearted humor after the “dark and grim measles story” (which, aside from losing my FAVORITE TRACY VILLAIN OF ALL TIME.. wasnt so “dark and grim” after all) in comic book terms, consider it a “fill in story” or in construction terms, a “bridge”… remember a while back mike said he was going to experiment with “week long stories” and everyone said it was a great idea and that he should do it… well there ya go, this is the first week long story.

i agree it TOTALLY came out of left field, but it was a nice little story to have thrown in, and it also establishes a comic strip continuity between tracyville and gasoline alley…

so now we have connections to terry and the pirates, brenda starr, astro boy (remember his cameo at the beginning of the phishface tale…or TAIL, lol) and gasoline alley. i wonder who will be next tho?

i’d LOVE to see oliver warbucks make a campaign contribution to the mayor (what was her name again? the lady who appeared after the mr crime story?) as she runs for re-election and an appearance by punjab and the asp as well! and have brenda (and the always AMAZING basil!) make an appearance and give wendy wichel a run for her money as a news reporter in tracyville ;)

Walt already leaving? Looks like a missed opportunity for some exchange like:“You seem tho have aged a lot better than me, Dick”“Thanks, Walt. A lifetime of crime fighting forces one to keep in shape.”

And we have a Gertie appearance in the middle panel. She is Walt’s live in nurse who has cared for him since the death of his wife Phyllis in 2004.

Watch it Sam. These days Tracy is looking a whole lot like the golden age Superman! (That is not a bad thing.)Funny but it was Tracy making a stop at Gaseline Alley a few years back that brought me to this website (in it’s former life) in the first place. I stuck around to read Tracy and Annie every day.

Go back and look at Tarry’s comment on Sunday. Walt was a guest on this strip for a week. Nice little story line and fun to see Walt up and active.

Cool avatar today! I loved it when M. J. Fox cut loose with that cherry red ES-335, ala Chuck Berry. Another guitarist who favors that model is Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues. Going to see them in December.

Many comic book critics believe that Bob Kane (Batman) used Broadway Bates as the model for the Penguin, he denied it of course (Kane claimed he got the idea from the Penguin on the “Cool” cigarettes package); of course anyone who is into comics history knows that Bob Kane was well known for “borrowing” from other artists
