Yup I figured she hadn’t been told any of “NONOS”Likely because it was so grown in the town ethics.( I looked it up to see if I had the right word) Yes it is what is and what has always been, therefore. Not necessarily a law thoughI want to know more about the boxes of cake mixes..And other useful food things in keeping. How much booze is available, still.Considering the menu for booze is so thick. What were they eating when they first moved in? They are eating beans NOW. But before? We seemed to start the story at the bean races. Can we go back to Frask and AM? To find up what all that gold bought, I know it is a boring list. But as the curious minds want to know????Love ya. Aaron, as usual your actions and reactions tell the story soooooo well. Blessed Be.
“This double murder”That’s not a definition. I want the definition, as spelled out by the Endtown legal system, as to what constitutes murder. All we know right now is that Mike and Bill were executed. What we don’t know is whether this action is sanctioned by the legal system, if the High Council accepted Flask’s explanation of her actions, and whether Mallard had done something similar when he ran the rats. Nab’s claim that Flask wasn’t prosecuted doesn’t hold if Endtown doesn’t have a legal definition for murder that matches our own. How does Mallard and the High Council define murder?
Well, some call it murder when the state executes convicted criminals. It’s really just a point of view. What matters is what rules exist, even if it’s only the rule ot the strongest.I guess the rats are right, till someone squish them.
The question I have is who did Valerie tell? If it’s not illegal, then the regular police wouldn’t necessarily get involved. The rats are going crazy without evident leadership. There is one person we’ve seemed to have overlooked recently: Remember the one we called “Liz”? She is one of the security staff if her uniform was any indication. Where is she now? Will she have any influence in this story?
It’s Linda’s turn to give Holly a reality check. We saw from Al and Gustine’s “trial” that their justice system is pretty different and easily corrupted. If it hadn’t been for Mallard’s intervention they wouldn’t have come out so well. That whole thing (even in Flask’s twisted mind) was motivated by an obsessive need to maintain Endtown’s security and secret. What Flask did to Mike and Bill seems to me to have violated the system that tried Al.
I am wondering who is pulling the rat’s trigger-happy, little, nasty strings. I think Flask got away with murder (literally) because they had a severe case of hero worship towards her..
Endtown is beginning to look more like a Topsider compound as time goes by. Except that Endtowners are “free”. Remember the old song? “Freedom is just another word for ‘nothing left to lose’…” I suspect that whoever arrested the criminal cake cooks is a character we haven’t met yet. The Jackrabbit might want to do this kind of thing, but I don’t see him as being able to seize control of the cops. Not crafty enough.
I’m with Holly on this panel: trusting the Gov structure that appears to stabilize my world, always two steps behind everyone else in suspecting it could betray me.
“What we have here….is a failure to communicate.” To make a quote.Wally will not come crashing through any door. Who do you think he is Superman? This is going to require something far more serious. Brains. This has to be thought out. The rats reaction was way over the top for a Taboo item. The Taboo is a ruse to something else. Given the three over three months this is ALL the rats have done? All this time NOTHING happened? I don’t believe it. This involves Linda and Holly specifically. Wally is involved but to what extent remains to be seen. Someone was waiting in the wings to jump when the moment was right. Maude is just a bystander caught up in the rush and good leverage if they want to push Linda and Holly both have strong character. Maude is scared to death. If they wanted Wally arrested he would be in the next cell by now. He may have another purpose and is being PLAYED. Holly is Wally’s leverage. Maude is both Linda and Holly’s leverage. And I mean leverage to use against them not help for them. What Wally needs to do is get help. Holly’s step dad is the best source I can think of. He is connected with Security remember he examines all who enter Endtown. He would have connections he could ask. He may get told to butt out but someone will answer him. Prof Mallard I think is going to be unable to assist. I think he has lost authority after the Flask incident if all than info got out about it. Remember NO ONE knew Flask’s past or future plans except the Oracle. The new security personnel may have uncovered ALL of Flask’s doings. This would undermine Prof Mallard’s authority as he made her head of security while suspicious of her intents. He could now seen as a Security risk also.Holly’s expression at the end is NOW she sees they are in trouble. Very serious trouble and calm cool heads need to prevail. Is not that interesting though. This TABOO stuff is NOT discussed in Orientation. That should have been something covered in an orientation. Maybe Linda was not informed for a purpose. Holly nor anyone else told her as THEY all thought she knew.I still smell a set up. A frame up if you want. Reasoning yet to be exposed.
If and when they get to speak their piece, I worry a bit about Linda. She was so recent a Topsider, and has had some kerfuffles with others, I think there would be some bias built in. And something tells me she wouldn’t go gently, so to speak…
Okay, now we KNOW that using mutant eggs and milk is not against the law. The question is what is driving the arrests. I see two possibilities. The rats are just going out of control. Flask is gone, prof. Mallard probably doesn’t want to be bothered with overseeing them and when there’s nothing keeping them in check. the rats are happy to run around and create chaos at the drop of a hat, any hat will do. This whole mess is set up by somebody either in or out of security who has some use for Linda, Holly or possibly Wally. While I can’t discount this possibility, I’m going with the rats playing while the cat’s away. We shall see.
Keep in mind, too, that Endtown started out as part of Hillside. And Hillside is where they had the “health screenings” to ended in the government-sponsored deaths of thousands… There may not be a good track record for authorities to follow here.
Looks like this may be the beginning of Linda becoming the new Endtown chief of security. I was wondering what had happened with that “hint” given out on the Endtown Forum long ago…
Does anyone besides the rats know what was in the secret files? or do they just know they were a secret? Also it seems the rats have been mutating larger. Does that mean anything?
