The rats don’t have tails. Everyone else with tails have them poking through their pants or skirts, so I think the rats probably have them removed so no one can grab them. Unless they’re bred without tails. One of the dirty secrets of Endtown could be that the rats, if they were ever human, are less so now and are acquiring the lifespans and breeding cycles of real rats. These rats may be less than six years old and may even have had several generations. And someone may be breeding them without tails.
If someone is breeding the rats at all, they seem to be breeding an army. No tails to grab, a fondness for weapons and military action, and a need to salute and follow orders.
You know, they really need to make an Endtown PSA for how the Civil System works. I’m sure they could just reuse news reports about the LAPD redubbed for the rat police. That’ll save some time.
Remembering the rats’ from Endtown 1.0, their pointing weapons at Walt (or any civilian who is in security) is not surprising. I find their silence a bit disturbing however. I suspect that the new High Council has something to do with that.
Poor bear has moved from Endtown to Peaksville (population 46). That’s where little Anthony would wish you into the cornfield if you didn’t like him—or even indicated displeasure with anything he did. Created bt Jerome Bixby.
Something is definitely up. They appear to be on a very high alert notification. When Al came back they only had side arms holstered and now they are armed to the teeth. This can only be on an order from their commander. The council may or may not be so aware. Allgood or one of his cronies could have stirred up some hysteria to make them take such extreme measures. Its almost as if they are expecting an attack, not from topside, but from Endtown. To answer Bob I am not sure of the caliber but I have seen when they took down Maude and Linda those bullets will rip a door to shreds. Based on their size a 5.7×28 would work well. Small pistol size cartridge but very powerful. They are not caseless as when they shoot Aaron has always showed brass flying. The FN 5.7 uses such a cartridge. So does the P90 which is popular with Spec Ops, SAS, police tactical units. The pistol is no larger than a Berretta 9mm but holds twenty rounds. The P90 can hold up to 100 rounds in a top loading mag. The rats have regular mags. 400 yrd range (that is just max effective due to accuracy of the weapons) and able to shred tactical body armor and Kevlar helmets. But just guessing using our worlds armory. Now I know the muzzles look really BIG but have you ever looked down the receiving end of a weapon?(Walt is) I have and believe me a 9mm looks like a 12ga when it is aimed at you.
Just for those wanting to know. The 5.7×28 is in millimeters. The 22 cal is just under 5.56mm so the 5.7 is not much bigger. The 28mm is the length of the shell about the length of a 38spl shell. So take that and neck it down to fit the bullet. You have a small round that really moves. The bullet weight about 50 grains which in not much. Its the speed that makes it hit hard not the bullet weight. No knock down power like a 7.62 which is 140 grains. It just moves over 3000 fps compared to the 7.62 at 2250 fps.So it would be a round easily handled by the lightest of individuals. The 7.62 would kick more but spring recoil dampers could ease the kick. The M4/M16 uses a big weight (bolt) dampened by a big spring to ease the kick. Its not much anyway but is there.Recoil can be handled by means other than being big bodied. Check out the Barrett 50cal BMG. That has two massive recoil springs to absorb the kick and a muzzle brake to help. The first ones of those 50 cals I shot did not have that and you did not want a steady diet of that. I did get to shot a 20mm (yes 20mm) rifle designed to penetrate armor vehicles. That was pure fun but punishment to do more than once. No recoil springs, padding was some leather wrapping foam on the butt stock. The Barrett company does make a 30mm rifle. Google it, danged awesome weapons to shoot. Really a hoot if you like trying to dislocate your shoulder. Best ones were the videos of the T-Rex rifles. .577 caliber heaviest free recoil rifle ever made to date. 750 grains at 2,460fps, 10,180 pounds of muzzle energy so 220 pounds of recoil on the shoulder. The videos of folks shoot that will make you laugh and go OOUUUCH!!!!!! It is designed to STOP large game charging. A charging madder than hell Gustine would be a good candidate.
Now listen up you RECOIL babies. Google 454 Casul and watch this little lady shoot a pistol that I have seen fully grown men not shoot.RECOIL AINT BUT A THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I did relook at the 577 T-Rex videos. (Still laughing) Watch how they hold the weapon. Its all in how you hold it. I learned if it has a big muzzle opening and large caliber to lean into them, shoulder tight, and as the song says, Click, Click, PULL!!!!
And they hold the high ground. The elevators lead to the level they are at AND they have a full stocked pantry. How much does Endtown below have in its stores and do they have a weapons cache? (They may which would be why the Rats have their guns out. Remember Prof Mallard equipped Al with a Ray gun so it is a open opinion.)
Some comments I tried to make this morning through my Nook Color vanished somewhere in cyberspace, three separate times…what the hell, I’ll try again, now that I’ve made it to my computer…it’s easier writing it out with a real keyboard anyway.#I haven’t seen any evidence that the mutations breed true and the basic genetic human material has been altered. Way back awhile, if I recall right, Cooper said something about children mutating in the womb. I’d like to think that’s the case…if not, I wonder whether the child of Wally and Holly would take after the father and the mother.#On guns…well, what I don’t know about guns would fill a thirty-bullet magazine. But we’ve also seen some sort of “ray gun” in the hands of some of Our Main Characters—-something the Security Rats don’t have, or if they have it, they don’t use it. If the Endtowners have that, and the Security Rats don’t, wouldn’t that go a long way to even up the score?
Can’t get food beyond beans, but have resources to let The Rats fire off a bunch of bullets any time they get excited. Not sure who sets the priorities on these things.
