It’s my understanding Zipper is Zonker’s nephew, right? That suggests that Zonker has another sibling somewhere in the Doonesbury universe. So, just where is he or her? Ought to be a good story in itself.

Funny how “nephews” turn up in comics (Popeye’s five nephews, Donald Duck’s three nephews, etc.) when the implied circumstances could be less than funny.

You gotta agree, though, that this is the most succinct description of Zonker Harris we’ve seen yet. I mean, it’s a good encapsulation.

Perhaps, but agitating for a union is not considered legal grounds for termination.

On the other hand, as today’s strip demonstrates, it’s not exactly difficult to find a reason to fire Zonker.

I believe that Zipper Harris is Zonker’s actual nephew although the parentage is undisclosed. That’s why Zipper is a “legacy” student at Walden.

McFriendly’s, a subsidiary of WailMart, where if three associates are talking together, they’re forming a union and are fired. If the union wins, the store is closed. The Waltons can’t survive on $60B.

But look at how long it took Zonk to get to that point. And this is only the second time he got fired from McFriendly’s.
