Likely why there are no pitchforks and torches is because there arenât any in this community. I am trying very hard to feel sorry for him. Letting himself be polished as the bad guy by you know who. Awh, poor panda, I think he will be seeing where he was wrong. I hope he catches Velda hiding things from him, realizes that heâs been had, and exposes her and the rest of the no-goodniks.
He was willing to sacrifice Holly, Maude, and Linda. Now heâs getting a taste of what he was selling, in the manner of Shirley Jackson, but without the Lottery.

I wasnât sure if he was the one who called them. I went all the way back to Jan. Must have been him, because that is who Roxie told on Linda. Reading it all backwards, it except for the rat attack it went thru time with expecting it to all blow over, but it just built and built.
Itâs sad to see that they choose to go the barbaric way instead of the democratic one, or at least civilized. Trowing stones at people doesnât really change a thing in a world of ray and machine guns.
I donât like this. Next thing theyâre going to kick âTyphoid Mariesâ out of Endtown. Jackrabbit isnât better than Allgood. I wonder if this whole arrest was manipulated by him.
Actually, throwing stones may accomplish a lot more. With a machine gun you can kill him, and with a ray gun you can disintegrate him, neither of which will accomplish much. But with stones, you can change his mind, make him recognize that his methods are not as popular as he thinks they are. The question now is not âwho is throwing stones,â but âis there anybody who ISNâT?â
Ponyhome said,âActually, throwing stones may accomplish a lot more. With a machine gun you can kill him, and with a ray gun you can disintegrate him, neither of which will accomplish much.â.I agree..Each of those stones is a vote or opinion. An opinion of someone who does not think that they are being heard.. When you donât think you are being heard you âTokâ a little louder. At least they are not "Ax"ing him some questions.Or beating around the bush..Now the bottle and the brick are a bit much. But you know how some people get a little overzealous with their politics. Like a certain Panda and Rabbit form.
I am anything but fond of Endtownâs rat population but they are even less culpable for this bit of bad work than Allgood. At least he got the ball rolling and is prosecuting the Endtown 3. They are just following orders. I wonder if this anger will spill over to the rats. I donât expect people to throw stones at armed men but a lot of insults and anti rat grafitti might be in order.
Well, some tough customer will have to come in and clean up the mess the SPHV, the High Council, the Security Rats, and the impending trial and intended executions is creating. Madam Guillotine first, then Marshall Law.
Where did they get all those stones? That is my question.I donât remember seeing a stone garden or rock pit around there. Looked pretty flat. Might not be rocks maybe harden droppings. You know rabbit poo, deer poo, elk poo. ;-)The brick and bottle were expected. Endtown is building and the bars have a good showing of customers.I would respect the brick thrower. Try tossing one that hard and far. They are heavy. However regardless of what the locals do the Council is going to do what ever it wants. They have no fear of the locals due to their location and protection. I know many would like to see Allgood taken out but remember that could be used to strengthen the hold the Council has now.I remember those old days of demonstrations when we did not like something. We thought back then that violence would solve the problem. It did not. It brought attention but not always the kind we wanted. We threw rocks at cops. Cops threw back tear gas, nausea gas, and rubber bullets. Then they chased us down and wacked us with BIG sticks. Not an even fight by no means.I learned the way to change was getting inside and taking it down internally by changing minds and showing a different better path. Also made better money. No money in being a demonstrator. Does not pay well.
Itâs not often that I feel this callous about a panda. Still, their approach does nothing to sway his conviction that opponents are behaviorally subhuman.
Chunking stones reminded me of a very old joke told to me by a minister back about 1969.Jesus was defending a person who was being stoned. He said let them who is without sin cast the first stone. Out of the crowd came this stone and smacked the person right on the head. Jesus turned and said âMOTHER!!!!âYou got to chuckle a little at this one.
Ironically, if he gets his way with the trial, he may one day end up having to eat those stones along with his words.Letâs not forget about that satellite the Topsiders launched into space. One day, someoneâs going to open the pantry and see thereâs not a lot of beans left.THEN WHAT?
This reminds me of an episode from âAmerican Dadâ.The Smith Family are in the Middle East, and Francine gets arrested and put on trial. Her husband, Stan, wants to be punished with her so she wonât suffer alone. He asks the court, âWhat does a guy have to do to get stoned around here?â
I have read some of the posts from yesterday about Asimov and Science Fiction stories.I think it is the time and movement of technology of today that affects how we reread the older stories. When we read those books from back then all that was in there was a fascination and wonder. Micro computers, robots, space flight. Remember watching 2001 A Space Odyssey. Specifically the Space part. The Space plane making landing on the Space Station. Coming into the screen looking out of the docking bay. The plane matching the rotation to dock. The Lunar shuttle. But what got me and still does as I have seen some re-showings on Cable. Is the names. Pan Am, Hilton, Howard Johnsons, Bell Telephone which were all in existence then but now all gone. The Bell telephone using camera technology to view the caller and receiver. And the cost of the call from space a $1.25 I think. All speculated wonders of the New World we were all racing towards. When that movie was made and shown we had not even landed on the moon. Now its hard to do good Science Fiction. We have advanced so far that you really have to go into far reaching ideas to get to what we first viewed in the 50âs and 60âs as new and amazing. We are somewhat jaded these days. Not to say there is not good stuff out there but we of the past find it hard to get back into. Most of it now is SciFi and Magic/Fantasy running together. This is what draws me to Endtown. It is new but yet old. It reminds me of those younger days reading Asimov, Bradbury, Herbert, Heinlein. It is both familiar yet unknown. The other day I was looking in some old boxes and found my paperback edition of Ray Bradburyâs âThe Illustrated Man.â I brought it to work for some reading. Some of those stories still sent chills up and down my spine. âKaleidoscopeâ astronauts floating in space to their deaths wondering about life and things and will any one notice. âThe Rocket Manâ what happens to the wife and son of a rocket man. âThe Last Night of the Worldâ what would you do if it was the end of it all. Just to name a few.Donât give up on the old works. Just bring back that youth again and just read it. Let it go for what it is worth. The rewards are worth it.
Iâd feel some sympathy for him if he didnât sick an army of psychos to destroy homes and drag 3 helpless women away like some kind of nazi jew raid.
Here is a question.Who is behind it?Those against Allgood?Or arranged by Velda to keep Allgood in line and on the program with the deal?Allgood would say look, I was attacked by these folks where is the JUSTICE!!!!!! They trashed the place. The folks of Endtown are INCAPABLE of controlling themselves. A strong hand needs to hold them in place. Give the Council more authority to gain control over Endtown. A mob is out of control. There is no order or civility. Some one once mentioned Reichstag burning.I hope it is just the bar crowd who drank a bit much and let their emotions over take their reasoning.Like I pointed out. Throw rocks at cops. Cop throw nastier stuff back. I know it is reaching but it is plausible.
A question: for the past few weeks, we saw the unexpected return of Al & Gustine. That said, how do they play a role in this latest story arc? The ever popular catch-phrase âback by popular demandsâ?
Reality has a way of shattering delusions, and Algood is finding that out the hard way. I also think Velda will face a similar fate, and she wonât be able to âweaselâ out of it either.
Juiv st checking in, to point out either of the daily strips would normally have sold for $130 each, and I am amazed the Holly and Wally strip did not sell on publication day for full price. And on the back of Holly & Wally Isolation and Desperation is the original strip featuring the radio and tv shop that drew such interest. Personally, if I could, I would definitely be all over this weeks auction.
Keep up the good work voting. Ooh, that was nice, Vote some moreI appreciate the well wishes Monday, and I certainly had no intention of throwing a pity party. It is just when I mention my health, I kind of dissociate myself with that person and just keep pushing on. I think Iâll be okay, because I donât think they would IV that much morphine to a person with liver failure.
Thanks All, Iâll try to check in as able with phone.JusSayin
