Yeah, at this point, Jonah Daytona is AWOL, MIA. etc…. even “Maury”, “Dateline NBC” and any other “hunt ’em down show” wont be able to track him…. He’s “gone, daddy, gone”…. in more ways than one… he may show up here and there, including Toni’s house…. but even when he’s there, he’s “still not there”……

Yes….this will be good. I’m betting that Quill will show himself very capable around Shannon and further his chances of being a good catch for Luann…………….HEY- it just occured to me- we never saw any fall-out from the locked bedroom scene- and Nancy is asking Lu to invite him?? He must have passed muster somewhere along the line…………

Happy Canada Day, Mikeyj! At a previous job, work took me up to Vancouver two years in a row for the last week of June/first couple of days of July, so I got to celebrate Canada Day up there, and fly home on the 4th. I had a blast both times.

Luann, Luann, Luann! WTH’s the matter with you? It’s pretty clear Shannon’s gonna be a ‘pseudo-grandchild’ of Mom Degroot’s, so why doesn’t SHE take on the baby-sitter role?

Fingers crossed that Tiff will be attached to Quill when he shows up:)

I do not understand all the Quill hate! It was Luann who locked the door, Quill who questioned her doing it, and still he didn’t take advantage of the situation and nothing really happened. Quill has had the opportunity more than once to further things with a more than willing Luann and has chosen not to do so. He could certainly take things as far as Tiffany would be willing to go and has not done so. Gunther has the perfect girl for him—I just don’t get the Quill hate.

Eight seconds? Okay that beats the 17-second miracle of Chicago (sorry, Boston). Toni is lucky; she only has to fight fires or do rescue runs. Luann, on the other hand, has to deal with Shannon! Happy Fourth of July!

The pessimistic side of me sees heartbreak here.

Well, at least we now know that Lu survived her “locked door” encounter and that Quill is not “off limits” or no longer welcomed in the house!!! GO LU!

I was going to ask the same thing. Almost looks like she has custody of Shannon now.

Or maybe he’s just not that kind of guy. Some people actually DO still wait for marriage, you know!

Quill might show his character/intelligence in his interaction with Shannon. If they do get married they might be uncle and aunt-in-law or parents.

So why it is that Quill is a wimp for realizing that sex is a big deal and not jumping on the first opportunity he had, and yet Gunther is a hero because he won’t even give Rosa a kiss?

So this Drama Camp is close enough that Gunther can volunteer and Quill can be easily picked up and dropped off.

So if they have July 4th off, does that mean they have the weekends off, as well?

What is with Shannon’s father, why does Toni have to find the sitter? Curious minds want to know.

Definitely. 4th of July is a prime time for guys like Jonah to attend events where a kid Shannon’s age would be in all kinds of danger.

The plan was probably already for her to be there with Brad and Toni, because they forgot that ALL firefighters work that day.

Do you remember the arc where Shannon vanished at Brad’s house, and TJ actually broke through a wall to find her?

The problem is that it’s almost impossible to be safe without being smart, and not nearly enough people are.

When I was a kid, there was a vacant lot on our block that was owned by the people who lived next to it. They allowed us to use it for fireworks, but all the parents expected up kids to make sure the lot was clear of anything burnable (including going down to bare dirt in a 10 foot circle). While the show was going on, someone was ready with a hose and a spray nozzle.

It was a simple requirement from the parents—if you want to enjoy fireworks, you’re going to make sure you do what you can to make it safe.

I’d like to see Quill be good with kids, but it would disappoint me to see Shannon particularly like him. I can’t bare the idea of Brad not being the special one.

Somebody should take responsibility for the kid besides Luann. Does she go to school yet? Who will bail her out? Where does she live? With Toni?

’bout time for some drama like a house fire from fireworks gone bad and Toni or Brad ends up in the hospital. After the Arizona tragedy we need to know these guys/gals put their asses on the line every day. I have the busiest Fire Station in Portland across the street from my office, they go out about every 30 minutes with sirens blaring. God bless them and the families of the Hot Shot team.

Aside from that, I am for Gunther for a number of reasons. First, I believe that Quill will never love Luann as much as Gunther does. …etc.

What you miss, and the other guys miss too, is that Luann doesn’t love Gunther. That’s all that matters here. It doesn’t matter how much he digs her, or what he becomes, or anything else. She does not dig him. She has zero interest level, and so he’s dead in the water. End of story. They’ll never get together. This is top secret girl stuff, I could get shot for revealing it. You’re welcome.

I use “you all” because it is less confusing than trying to use the same word as singular “you.”

“Yo” is an interesting one. Also, some people are trying to use the Swedish “hen.”

“Youse” is also practical, but still regional.

But it’s still “Mom took Cindy and me to the movies.” It makes me crazy when people get that backward. Worse when I say it right and they correct me.

Actually it looks like Shannon is now living with her now. Hasn’t been explained in the strip, but that’s how it looks.

Her one and ONLY Beef with Gunther was His looks. She once said of His interest in “Boring” Magic that if Gunther LOOKED David Copperfield, then “They” would have something to TALK about.

And yet, in the eyes of MANY, Luann’s Not “Swallow”…..,

Also, Gunther has, for a long time, been perfectly aware of Luann’s shallowness and resented her for it. Even if he still wanted her, he could never respect himself for being with her. It is not nice to wish her upon him.

Is that “binding”? ha ha!!

If she’s working and her brother is “working” on the same day, then why is it her responsibility to find a replacement? The way it’s been played most times is that her brother asks Toni to take Shannon when he needs someone at the last minute and it happens to interrupt one of her dates with Brad. If so, then Toni would say, “Sorry, but July 4th is a busy day for firefighters. You need to ask mom to take her.”^^Toni and Jonah have NO parents, they were killed in a car crash

I seriously think that everyone is missing the fact that Gunther has already moved past his childhood infatuation and as he has gotten older realized that he can have a relationship with someone that likes him for him, and that will allow him to be the person that he wants to be (he wasn’t pining for “lost love Luann” at the Prom; and Luann despite everyone thinking otherwise is a very sweet girl that is great with Shannon, spends time with the elderly, gets along well with the little kids at the Library, and is just a typical teenager that has crushes on the cute guys that never seem to return the feeling. She has FINALLY found a cute guy that seems to like her back and I for one am happy for her. She will grow into a lovely young woman and even if this Quill/Luann relationship doesn’t stand the test of “getting to the College years” at least she didn’t finish last like she has done for as many years as this strip has been running almost…

It would make sense for him to have already started making plans for US colleges when he was living here, as a senior, before he decided anything to do with Luann.
