    In some states, if proven that a contract was signed under duress, it can be invalidated.

    Yesterday’s art of Mr. Sweetrose reminded me of a favorite character actor of the 40s, Donald Meek.(I’d post a picture, but I don’t know how; sorry, all.)

    I meant to give my take on Beatty’s Dick Tracy movie, and forgot all about it…. The movie was better than the reviews , but, the movie would have been tons better without Beatty (just not the tough detective type) and especially without Madonna, who’s acting was/is horrible and who’s 2 songs that had nothing to do with the plot, just ground the movie to a halt, both times! Also, Dinero (sp?) was terrible as a skinny over the top Big Boy (Didn’t look anything like the Gould character) the potential was there, but, the final product couldn’t hold a candle to Ralph Byrd’s Tracy!

    With both Molemann Mineral and Tracy after him, not to mention Apparatus discipline, Hy Pressure is clearly under high pressure these days: his days are numbered….

    Off-topic seems more interesting this week than on-topic. Tarry and Nightshade, who is Donald Meek?

    Dick Tracy this week has been boring. After teasing us with a potential anti-fracking storyline regarding some hustler named “Hy Pressure,” now the company hiring him apparently wants to turn him into the police.

    At least, that’s the impression I get.

    To the best of my misunderstanding, I guess!

    No, I think the crime gang has been trying to get the land contracts using sleazy tactics so they can resell them to the mining company at a serious markup. Same thing used to happen with railroads, where the trick was to find the route and buy up the land that you knew would become more valuable for Eminent Domain.

    Yep, the fracking company has enough public relations problems, and now they find out the Apparatus has been poisoning the water for them!

    Of course, this guy could be lying to Tracy, but what he is saying is that his company does not do business in a high pressure manner. If he is legitimate, he is saying that the methods of Hy Pressure are giving honest mining companies a bad name. He is concerned to find that Hy has been in the area ahead of him, and wants police help to put a stop to his chicanery. Remember, we saw that Hy was employed by the Apparatus. They gain the control of the mineral rights by underhanded methods, then sell those rights to a legitimate company. This gives them enormous amounts of “clean” money – that is, the money appears on the books as a legitimate business deal. I doubt if Mr. Sweetrose would be exposing himself to the police if he were in on the crooked dealings, unless there is a very complicated swindle going on, and we haven’t seen the whole picture yet.

    Looks like If Sweetrose is involved in any manner it will take time to catch him. He could be throwing Hy Pressure under the bus to Cover his own backside. But then If Mysta zaps him, he will be outta the picture like Bardoll was when he tried to knock off tracy.Too many ways this t=story can go. Enjoy the ride folks.

    It was Al Pacino, not Robert DeNero who played Big Boy(they do look alike though). Also the Mug Shot of Hy Pressure, why did they allow him to have that cigarette or toothpick between his lips.Mug shots don’t allow such.

    I don’t know why people are assuming that Hy Pressure works for Mr. Sweetrose. The logical thing under the circumstances is that Hy Pressure is competing with Sweetrose’s company for mineral rights but is using dishonest tactics to do it.

    I like the goatee on the Sweetrose character, you don’t see that very often on businessmen.

    Since we’re on the topic of Donald Meek let’s not forget this little bit of info;

    Before becoming an actor, he fought in the Spanish–American War and contracted yellow fever which caused him to lose his hair.

    Let’s give a loud shoutout to all our vets!

    Actually, wearing the same outfit is pretty common in series television; it allows one to reuse, say, footage of Joe Friday and Frank Gannon walking down a hallway at Police HQ so that shot doesn’t need to be refilmed over and over again. :)

    I’m pretty sure there’s been a strip that refers to Detective Tracy buying his suits in bulk because he doesn’t have time to go clothes shopping. And he most definitely has a favorite brand of trenchcoat and hat!
