Uh-oh, this is not going to end well for S and S. Silver doesn’t know how to drive, so if he knocks out Sprocket or she leaves, he’s kind of stuck. She’s right — he messed up everything and they didn’t end up with anything more than a murder rap — certainly no money from this job.
As for the hyena, check out this video of a Portland, Oregon family held captive when their housecat attacked. They had to call the police to come and put the cat in a cage. It just happened yesterday.
Sliver, the ineffective loser in this dubious family, looks in panel 2 like Bob Hope’s evil cartoon-twin. Sprocket’s blow-up has been simmering for the last few days at least, and it is now out in the open. The “smack” IMO is the sound of the row of corn stalks being mowed down by the tricked-out getaway special; the corn stalks may force a stall-out as Sprocket tries to barrel through the field towards who-knows-what (the/a main road?). But, on the other hand, if it turns out to be the sound of Silver slapping Sprocket, then things will get real messy real soon! There is no honor among thieves, especially within a family….
If Sprocket surrenders to the police. She might make out better. She wasn’t the one who actually killed Mycroft. She was an accessory to the crime. She could turn State’s Evidence and testify against her brother. Who was the actual murderer.
Darn it. We were just saying that recently the colorist here at GoComics was doing a great job. But, come on. . . In the middle of winter, even if there is not snow on the ground, would a farm field be green like this? I think it would be brown. And anyway, I would think the colorist would read the strip, in order to be accurate. The dialog has established that this is a fierce winter storm. Oh, well.
MikeyJ: Agreed. I do believe it is Sprocket slapping Silver, probably on the face. Which is probably not a very bright thing to do, given Silver’s recent history. Silver may not know how to drive, but he does have a rather hungry hyena, and he’s shown that he’s not reluctant to use her!.When the going gets tough, the hyena gets fed!.Which may be the end of this chase..Silver and Lena continue on their own, on foot, until they are either caught or….Silver runs out of stuff to put in Lena’s mouth!
Given that he says his sister’s name in panel one (wanting her to stop speaking…), and looking at Silver’s face in panel two, my take is that he is the striker, not the struck. The truth makes some people very angry when it exposes their failings.
There does not even have to be a shoot out because the 2 wheel drive is done in that corn field and DT & SC should just wait until those two get cold, tired, hungry out of gas and ammo. It is the end of the line for these two!
morrow said, 2 minutes ago@avenger09Grammar Police. The subject of your last sentence is singular (“Lena or Silver”); shouldn’t the verb be “doesn’t”? Back to the sixth grade, SDM, for your thirteenth attempt. And don’y try to bribe the teacher for a passing grade this time!

Too slow Morrow! LOL!! Interesting education you’re providing for me! And stop exaggerating, I’ve only repeated 6th grade 10 times! Oh and for your information don’y might be a word in Texas but it isn’t anywhere else that I know of!LOL!!
I hadn’t thought about it until I read the comments, but, yes, I think SIlver just smacked his sister. (The ‘exploding’ word balloon cinches it for me.)I like the argument – she’s saying what a lot of us thought, that Silver doesn’t know what he’s doing.Too bad she didn’t realize it sooner, when there was a chance to get out. But bringing it up now is so not a good idea. Here’s where it all comes apart, real fast and very messy.
You said: “and Sprocket was the idiot whose barefeet got them noticed. She should be SLAPPED !!!”-—————That had me laughing! They blast their way through a roadblock after flipping Tracy’s car, have to crash through the side of a barn into a cornfield — and all you can think of is her feet!

Yes…..the smack is either the car hitting something, or something hitting Sprocket. My money’s on Sprocket.

It’s dark, it’s snowing, we’re running from the cops, we have a hungry hyena on board……..and we’re wearing shades…..

I think it’s Sprocket slapping Silver, she looks as if she’s about to backhand him, in the 2nd panel

Now’s a bad time for those two to have a brother-sister fight. The cops are hot on their tails!
