I, for one, am a Christian, and not ashamed of it. While I don’t “ram it down people’s throats”, I don’t hide it, either. I am who I am: a sinner saved by the Grace of my Lord Jesus Christ. Personally, I found the poem lower key than usual. Happy Resurrection day…He Is Risen!
What’s wrong with atheism? I think that believing that we’re nothing more than a maggot’s breakfast in the end is liberating. How empowering to believe that at the end of life, you’re worth nothing and that there’s nothing to be gained in hoping for something better. Atheism rocks!
It is written that “God hates religion” what He wants is a one on one relationship with us. He gave us a free will to choose and that choice will be played out after our time on earth.
Its Easter. It happens every year. Its in all the newspapers and on TV. Anyone that doesn’t like it should stay in bed or put a bag over their head so as not to see this day. Preferably a plastic one.
Johnny Hart was quite religious in his own sort of way. I can’t truthfully say that it’s a way I’m comfortable with, but to each his own. I think Mastroianni and Hart here have done something that was consistent with what Johnny would have. Nice thought and poem.
A Common Tater: Pardon me, I thought we lived in a nation that encouraged the free expression of ideas. Apparently not anymore. Only the atheists are permitted to trumpet their dogma, opinions and prejudices from the rooftops and everyone else can just shut up and listen. Interestingly, GOD said it would come to this.
I really don’t like it when non-Christians shove their views down my throat. Frankly I think it is because they are intimidated by the Truth. How about we just agree to disagree? Happy Easter to those who believe. And Happy Easter to everyone else too!
You don’t have to read them. No one is cramming them down you throats. There are many on this website that I choose not to read. Get over yourselves. Quit being crabby. They’re just cartoons…good grief. I read these replies and think maybe most people should be reading the political cartoons instead.
I come to the comics for entertainment, preferably of the humorous variety. I don’t care for anyone who Proselytizes at every opportunity. Keep your religion to yourselves Mastroianni and Hart.
Matthew 5:14-1614 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
I think M & H did this well, and its an example that inspires me not to be afraid of sharing my faith. God bless, and Happy Easter!
I have always found it funny that I get “Christians” knocking on my door trying to recruit me. Usually they are Baptist or Mormon. I have NEVER had a Jew or a Catholic come by the house. You don’t see nuns riding bicycles in sets of 2 trying to get people to believe. BTW did Passover get any recognition in the comics? He was after all a Jew first.
Amen to the poem. The amazing thing about Jesus is that He loves even those who hate him. This is a trial period. After the trial period is over, His love will be demonstrated by perfect judgement. Free advice.. Use this trial period wisely.
This has been a long long B.C. Tradition start by the original Artist. It would only come around twice a year and if you couldn’t handle it twice a year then just don’t read it on Easter Sunday or Christmas Day. If an old man like me can deal with it twice a year then surely the rest of you can as well.
He is a very religious cartoonist. Always has been. This is right up his alley. I believe changing you viewing habits rather shutting down his religiosity is more appropriate and tolerant.
Why is someone publicly portraying his religiosity in a very non threatening natter a nut. Your assumption that the religious are all crazy is the height of intolerance and bigotry.
You believe others’ beliefs should be unspoken even if those beliefs require sharing. Therefore you don’t believe they should follow their beliefs, but yours.
Lighten up, people…that was a sweet strip with a positive message, even if it was bent in the direction of a single religion….which BTW, I am NOT a member of.
