“Babe?” Why do these high school couples date for two weeks and sound like they’ve been married 10 years? I had a friend in college whose girlfriend called him “hon” in a letter, and he promptly broke up with her. He wasn’t ready to be “hon” at age 19.

“Can I cheer you up with a head rub?” Seeing that Amy’s pants are doing the talking, Lucky should feel better in no time.

Lots of baseball season left, 3-4 weeks. Mopman, if I am to sacrifice myself for greater good, I request that I take my marching orders from Steve Canyon. I have deep personal reasons. No disrespect to Mark Trail.

Amy “heard” about it? She doesn’t even show up for his games?

In all reality, I see a milkshake being clumbsly dropped by Amy on Luckys head. Cut to Summer as Sgt Rock and Easy Company plot to free the Thorp KIDSS?

It’s a wonder he can catch at all with a bear claw for a left hand. (P-3)

Amy stopping by for the pop-in? Milford must be really small.

a segue way from panels 2 to 3. “Shake it off” followed by “Can I cheer you up with a milkshake?” Writers attempting to lead us in our thinking here? Obviously little thinking goes into writing the plot. Either a segue way or multi-panel alliteration, either of which appears to be beyond the mental scope of the writers.

That game took up more days than any game in recent Milford history. Because it was vital to this season’s plotline since, umm, hmm, not sure. Anyway, MUT makes at least as much sense.

There is an old joke where the waitress explains: The extra 25 cents is for the milkshake.

Is it me, or did Lucky gain about 35 lbs since the game ended?

In all reality, Amy takes Lucky to the Bucket for a shake and some St Fabian jocks start making fun of Lucky. Amy decks them and says Anyone else want a Lucky Punch ?i

I also literally laughed out loud at that panel. Lucky’s explanation encapsulates the ridiculousness of this (and let’s face it, most) Gil Thorp storylines and then the pitcher interjects an unexpected dose of non-Milfordian reality. The element of surprise combined with the juxtaposition of realities is what makes it funny. This concludes my thesis on why I laughed.
