Delta: "Tiffany did this?" Bernice: "Yup" Luann: "I love it" Tiffany: "Oh, admiring my work? Looks pro, right? But I did it all. I just have natural styling talent. Makeup and fashion, too" Tiffany: "Any other compliments? Raves?" Delta: "Nope. You covered it, Tiff" Luann: "Knee-deep"

Well, it turns out that “O” was really just the “Coat Of Arms” of the school, and not a letter at all! Yup…. The Arms of Pitts…. -Tiffany was motivated to “leave no room for doubt” about her wonderful talents!…And of course, she left no room for anyone’s free praise, either…

Fishing for compliments. Typical Tiff. It isn’t an improvement anyway.

And Tiffany is off to Hollywood, as a behind the scenes make-up artist. (Hey, it’s a foot in the door for her.)

Tiff, you have a career in makeup while you are searching to have a career in acting… ;)

I’m guessing if Tiff doesn’t toot her own horn, no one else will do it! She’d make a great make-up and hair artist…why go to MU, Tiff, when you can go to Hollywood and wait to be discovered while making up the Stars. After all, in Tiff’s way of thinking, its not What you know, but Who you know…and what better way to do so than to be so “close” to those she wants to emulate! ;)

people don’t say that(Tiff being a makeup artist), if Gunther and Rosa break up, we could end up having “make-up artist” with “Wardrobe and costumes person” AKA, Tiff and Guinther

Anyone else here think that Tiff’s the one who could use a hair makeover?

Poor Tiffany. Nobody understands her insecurity and desperate need for approval. If the girls would just politely acknowledge that Tiff has in fact done a fine job for Bernice, then Tiff would not have to spell it all out in detail. Tiffany needs a friend, and she seems not to have any here, just as she does not have a satisfactory father-figure at home….

Off Tiff is so great at makeup, why isn’t Bern wearing lipstick?

Well, with Bern’s new makeover, it would seem her longevity in the strip is further assured. I guess t hat’s a good thing.
The bigger question, I think, is when is Lu going to get her next makeover (to signify her growth/evolution)? A couple of different thoughts on that. Having Lu evolve in style might be just the right time for whomever might be assuming control of the artistry, once Greg decides to slow down or retire. Then again, I’m hoping that won’t be for a good long while, so maybe Lu has to evolve 1-2 times more before that. In either case, I hope she keeps all her hair… Maybe it’s just me, but I prefer long straight fall down hair, without much curl in it.

this talent will serve her well when she ends up working in a salon, assuming she isn’t forced to become a prostitute after moving to hollywood trying to become an actress.

Gotta hand it to Tiff— had she been jealous of Bern’s valley-diction status, she could have given her an awful cut (one of my friends did this to me once). But she didn’t. Tiff gave Bern her best work— and probably for free!

In my newspaper, the Tampa Bay Times (used to be the St. Petersburg Times}, “Luann” is among the few uncolored comics on the “wrong side of the tracks” page. Actually, Bernice looks better with uncolored hair, because it looks blonde. I’m not saying that brown hair isn’t nice, but to me, Bernice does seem to look better with light hair.

Modeling, fashion design, acting, salon ownership and charm school instructor are some areas that Tiffany can have in the future. Like it or not Tiffany can be successful in the areas that interest her, and all of the above are within her interests.

Tiffany will end up as a cosmetician. So much for her dreams of becoming a famous actress.

Here’s a fact for everyone here: Luann is more promiscuous than Tiffany. Stop associating Tiffany with being a slut when she’s never done anything with a boy.
Maybe she(Tiff) simply hasn’t been given the right opportunity! ;-)))
But, seriously, I don’t believe Tiff is a “slut.” She’ll do a whole lot of things to “get ahead” and get focus on herself (and many of us like to call her on those things, perhaps even when not deserved), but I honestly think she knows right from wrong, deep down, and would not resort to sex to advance her goals.
But I also believe the same of Lu. I don’t think she deliberately considers being “promiscuous” (i.e. pursuing anything that comes on her RADAR). I attribute her recent close call with Quill to not having experience with raging teen hormones nor keeping them managed/under control. I don’t recall if she ever got this close emotionally with Aaron or the others… don’t think so.
Time will tell (we’ll see what happens with her Pits CC pursuits).

Tiffany is self-centered, but she has creative and organizational skills. She is an extrovert who wants to be the center of attention, which men may mistake for “Here Tomcat”, and that can lead to things that can ruin her life if she doesn’t cool it. If she maintains responsibility for her wants and desires, life will end up sweet.
luann1212 over 10 years ago
I actually feel a little pity for Tiffany. She has no boyfriend, because she is so self-involved I know, but that may mask a deeper insecurity. But on the other hand her strength is is beauty and make-up, and clothes. She is always pictured doing her face, or her eyebrows, or commenting on clothes. It is self-centered true, but she does have that skill-set. So maybe this leads to something good for her.

> Split the Luann/Bernice pairning and the Tiffany/Crystal duo. Reform with Luann and Tiffany and Bernice and Crystal.>Personally, I had rather see Bernice / Tiffany and Luann / Crystal. After all, we see that Bern and Tiff actually get along pretty well, and Bernice sees talent in Tiffany that her classmates don’t. (Remember that in one of the only two strips we saw of the prom – after all that build-up – Bernice was congratulating Tiffany on doing a really good job of putting it all together.) Since they will both be going to Moony Uni, maybe they could become roommates? Bernice wants to “loosen up” a bit, and Tiffany could give her pointers into how to project the image she chooses (which is what acting is, after all). Bern could help Tiff devote a bit more attention to her schoolwork, to insure she graduates.-As for Luann and Crystal, is it possible that they will both be going to Pitt CC? Since Crystal’s main function in the strip is to point out when Tiffany and Knute are acting objectionably (and are oblivious to their own shortcomings), it would be a good idea for Luann to spend time in the company of someone like Crystal who won’t hesitate to tell her when she’s being too self-centered, demanding, and whiny, which is in fact close to being most of the time.
TORAD_07 over 10 years ago
Think about that for a moment. A girl as attractive as Tiff would be given “opportunitues” every week. The fact that she is not talked about as the school slut is evidence that she has retained her virtue. Tiff gets a raw deal.
Precisely my point. if Greg wanted her to be “slutty,” he’d have exposed us to those opportunities that, so far, we’ve never seen. Of course, I’ll entertain any evidence/strips to the contrary. But sorry… Kissing some of the boys her age (group), doesn’t count…. :-)

This strip is like “Peanuts”, in that (except for Frank, Nancy, and Mrs. Berger) parents are unseen. Cue the sad trombone.
seismic-2 Premium Member over 10 years ago
For that matter, people here are always saying that Tiffany can’t act and has no talent, so she’ll certainly fail when she tries to become an actress and she’ll have to support herself in some unsavory fashion. Has it ever been shown that she is in fact a lousy actress? Why do so many people here jump to that conclusion?
TORAD_07 over 10 years ago
I just realized that Tiffany’s parents have never been shown in the strip. Ipso Facto, ( according to the prevalent logic ), they don’t exist. They must be figments of her imagination, and she’s actually been living alone for many years raising herself.
Not shown, but referred to. There were the references to Tiff’’s dad giving (and then taking away) her credit cards, no? :-)
SactoSylvia over 10 years ago
Tiffany would probably have received the compliments she craves if she had only waited and given the others a chance to compliment her. She sort of pre-empted what anyone else might have said with her effusive praise of her own work. It’s kind of sad, really…

I think Tiff’s calling is more behind the camera:
CosmetologistMakeover expertTV/Movie make-up artistCostumerFashion columnistPersonal dresser
Tiff is no actress, but she can pursue her true passion in one of the above or related professions and maybe achieve the fame she desires in the process. Just hope she realizes that very soon.

And in “Luann”, we’ve seen exactly one teacher (and one guidance counselor, and one principal). And the students don’t hear what they’re saying.
TORAD_07 over 10 years ago
But college (in this case, university) is an excellence place to hone those skills for the career one wishes to pursue.
Agreed, absolutely. Several classmates I knew at Univ. have had successful professional careers (movies, MSM TV shows, etc.). My school was very strong on it. It has an undergraduate “School of Speech” and a “Radio/TV/Film” major.

ReallyBad“Here’s a fact for everyone here: Luann is more promiscuous than Tiffany. Stop associating Tiffany with being a slut when she’s never done anything with a boy.”.
pro·mis·cu·ous , 1. “sexually indiscriminate: having many indiscriminate or casual sexual relationships” .Doesn’t apply unless Luann has been having many sexual encounters off screen. You can assume such, but no proof or suggestion of same..2. “choosing without discriminating: choosing carelessly or without discrimination “.Could apply, but in the course of things, she hasn’t really been shown having any interest in all THAT many other people..She might be MORE promiscuous than Tiffany, but only because we don’t know Tiffany has ever had any interest in any other than those Luann is attracted to. This could hide a secret desire for Luann, but I shall not speculate.

“And we all like to skip commercials…”^That used to be so…. but now:
Today’s commercials are such drivel that there is a Youtube channel dedicated to some of the classics, and the best… a bit of nostalgia for a time where there was a “human touch” and a creative flair to some of them… (Sort of like how there was a Jingle station on the radio in that Sylvester Stallone/Sandra Bullock/Wesley Snipes movie)… – With the advent of “copyright control” and some other assorted wrangling, we cant Tivo or DVR anything on NBC/Universal (and a few others) without having to watch the commercials, too… they are “persistently pesky” about not letting anyone rewind/FF through their junk ads… and they’re mostly ads for the network shows…

As for Tiffany’s being in too much of a hurry to complement herself (Wow, an actress with an ego – who ever imagined such a combination?), remember that it’s 2014, and self-promotion is what teenagers do. The whole Facebook and Twitter obsession is about marketing your personal “brand”.

OK,she done good at drama camp, school productions, etc. But of you’ve noticed, she’s always in competition with Luann for these roles. A true test of her talent where she isn’t motivated by one-upping Luann by competing with professionals has yet to present itself. What’s good in drama camp could be lame in the professional arena. As we’ve all seen, her talent lies more in the fields I’ve listed.Look,I’m not a fan of Tiffany. She’s a mean girl, and not above blackmail (the Luann shower incident) over or ripping them off (the fire fighter meals incident with T.J.). She may very well be a good actress, but she hasn’t been truly tested yet. I’m saying that, based on what we know of her leanings toward fashion,make-up,etc.,those fields I listed would be a better fit for her.

At one time I grew my hair clear down to my knees…would have kept it but I inherited “frizz” from my curly-haired father, and hair that long was really difficult to shampoo, condition, etc. So, one day I got most of it…but not all of it…cut. It was then a breeze to wash and condition! Still miss it sometimes, but I don’t miss the upkeep, knots and etc. ;)

Yes, I remember the one long strand of hair in the lower-middle of the back of the head…always had the secret temptation to cut one off (not that I would really do it!). ;)
