Nothing will stop the yelling. There’s even yelling about the yelling.

If there’s less yelling, there’d be more thinking. People would never accept that.

Usually attributed to Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan ( wikiquote ), and "Also see Bernard Baruch, who said “Every man has a right to his own opinion, but no man has a right to be wrong in his facts.” in the January 6, 1950 issue of the Deming (New Mexico) Headlight", AND to James R. Schlesinger.

Both sides deal with facts. The problem is that there are 2 sets of facts.

They just use the facts they agree with. Other facts are ignored, but they are still facts.

To accept facts, one would have to also accept science, even when it disagrees with your version of religion.

There isn’t time for facts. We have to DO something RIGHT NOW!Fortunately, we have this file cabinet full of legislation written by various lobbyists over the past twenty years that are quite fortuitously designed for just precisely this emergency, and should be able to knock out a new 1500 page law that we haven’t actually read in about the time it takes to go on a fact-finding tour of some four star bars and restaurants.

The yelling won’t stop until there is a bright flash of light and a mushroom cloud…. Oh who am I kidding, they’ll all just end up in Hell and continue arguing on who fault it is that they ended up there and whether Satan is abusing his executive powers!

I wonder if Wiley has a more subtle point here that we are missing. The workman is obviously covering up an existing sign with the letter ‘S’. Admittedly, it doesn’t look like there is anything underneath the ‘S’ but one can’t really tell. In addition, there are two letter-sized rolls on the sidewalk, apparently yet to be applied. I haven’t been able to divine a word that would make sense with two more letters replaced, so I’m stuck. There would have been no need to show the workman overlaying an ‘S’ if he were simply installing a sign.

First, form an opinion based on nothing but ideology, then select from all the facts just the ones that support said opinion, and start yelling. This is called “politics.”

But the problem is that the yelling is caused by not agreeing about what exactly the facts are. Scientific evidence isn’t a fact unless Faux news says it is.

Substitute ‘truth’ small t for facts and you see why they will and should continue to yell at each other. Since there are very few truths and most truths decided by power centers of media, corporate, gummint, educationand religion with a manufactured majority decide the ‘truth of the day’. And those truths/facts will change ‘on a dime’ as those in power see fit to keep their power.

Fact: “Science” is also a “Religion”.Proof: One definition of a miracle is “an intervention to the laws of nature enacted by a deity that does not perform on command.” Therefore, miracles cannot be proven or subject to experiment.Since “Science” begins with the assumption “Everything operates according to the laws of nature.”, it is presupposed that there exists NO gods.THAT IS RELIGION – not an honest examination of facts.

Most prefer to yell Factoids, which despite current usage to mean a “small fact” really means something that resembles a fact, but isn’t.

@BillJ-MNYou say: “It’s more like carrying on with observations and testing in the absence of any EVIDENCE of gods or supernatural intervention.”… “absence of any evidence” ? ? ?Have you personally met the person who designed and assembled your very complex cell phone? If you took apart that cell phone down to all its individual components and pieces, put it in a jar and shook it for millions of years, would it EVER reassemble in to a cell phone? Or anything other than finely ground dust particles? No. You would have to use your intelligent mind and take all those pieces and work very carefully to hopefully reassemble them into a cell phone that works the way it is supposed to.A “simple” one celled organism – the enzymes, the super complex DNA, the chemical balances and interactions that make it live are vastly more complex than your cell phone. (Let alone something as complex as a human body)That complexity IS THE EVIDENCE of an intelligent powerful creative mind. A God. I can’t understand why people choose to blind themselves to this fact.We cannot SEE the wind with our eyes, but we know it exists because of its affect on things it moves. We cannot SEE God with our eyes, but we / I know that One exists by the complex things He has designed and made. But many just brush aside what I’ve just pointed out.

In the UK, the current government will never reverse the previous government ‘s policies, even if they are extremely unpopular and were the basis of the new regime’s promises.

Singingguy…We can see wind and air. The air in the atmosphere shows up as blue sky..Ever seen the air in the west at sunset? You are not seeing anything but air…Clouds are air. A thunderstorm is made out of only air….Tornadoes? Nothing but air, until they start picking up the mobile homes and 2 by 4s…The god you believe seems to be fairly weak, predictable and boring. You’re god doesn’t have the power to pull off evolution…What a wus….

Politicians on both sides don’t care about facts, and say the other side hates science and math. For example, the Right on climate change, gun laws; the Left on abortion, hormonal drugs.
