This is what “Luann’s” resident find-new-college-friends! thrives on… Is Bernice to blame because she wants to study? No, not really. Actually, she can become a part of a study group and meet lots of fantastic student friends. Unfortunately, I think Luann and Bernice’s friendship is beginning to drift away… ;(

I think that you saw the only time that she would do that (5 a.m.). It would seem that the “raison d’être” was her wanting to “make a good impression” and “fit into” the new scene… – The later Luann has to get up, the better- she got up early that one time, but as she stated on Monday, now she knows better…..sort of…

Thanks! It would be nice if you could post that Lego picture! Kids that come semi-later in life make you feel young, no?! I am not that old yet (well maybe a couple of years give or take a few LOL!), but having grandkids early on keeps me on my toes, too! One of the reasons TV and I don’t get along is that I just canNot sit that long at any one time. Always up and down, stitching or reading or letting IS Katie in and out the doors, especially the doors in the evenings when I am on GC! ;)

I am sorry, but unless you are a total genius, Bernice is absolutely correct. That is in particular if you are going to a really advanced institute of learning such as any University of California Campus, Stanford University, Cal Tech, (and those are just the ones in Calafornia). If you do not study at least 3 hours a week for each weekly hour of actual class you are eventually going ot be doomed to becoming a drop out.

It is really very unfortunate that the popular media seems to be caught up with the so called non study and “fun” aspects of college work. There is plenty of time after the hard work and study of college for all of the “Fun” social aspects of life!!

Oh please. At a minimum the first four to six semesters are a breeze if you take fewer than 18 credits. Just show up on time, pay attention and do the homework. That makes it easy to maintain a 4.0 without any extra studying while leaving plenty of free time to socialize and do whatever you want.

Well, I Finally got IS Katie in from the outside deck…she kept seeing something in the backyard, and kept flying down the stairs barking her head off. I finally got her in…at least she will quit barking when I tell her, quite loudly, to “no bark!” Anyway, time to tune out and go up the stairs. "Nite all! ;)-——————————————————————————“Man has been endowed with reason, with the power to create, so that he can add to what he’s been given. But up to now he hasn’t been a creator, only a destroyer Forests keep disappearing, rivers dry up, wild life’s become extinct, the climate’s ruined and the land grows poorer and uglier every day.”(Anton Chekhov, 1860-1904)

Back*Bernice looks taken a-back.*Bern, instead it’s time for a game of “back-atcha”. “So what are YOU doing with all of your free time, Luann? Sitting on wet ground dreaming of high school?”*Forward— changes take time. And Bern has her priorities straight.

Bernice has to study, and she isn’t going to have much time to be with you, Luann, for at least four more years in your time and twenty-nine more years in real time.

It’s interesting the Luann knows so much about the dorm where Bernice is living. Seems like she spent much more time learning about the Moony campus than she did the campus where she is attending state school/community college.

A lot earlier, there were some postings about the rankings of colleges as party schools. You guys are looking at the wrong ranking list. __*US News and World Report*_publishes rankings based on academic excellence, availability of a variety of degree programs, availability of merit scholarships and a whole range of other issues.

@joel-Your point being? I’ve helped a lot of people move, and people have helped me. That didn’t get in the way of me (or them) learning about the new environments we each had to navigate in our new lives.-I’m not ReallyBad2. I like Luann. But that doesn’t mean I don’t wonder about her choices at times. Like Quill, for example…

Luann will learn soon enough, especially when a course grade rides on one’s performance on maybe 2-3 exams, and she fails the 1st one… OOPs, and then the 2nd … .. OOPS. Hey its nice to an adult with adult responsibilities…

When I went to UCLA in the mid 60s, there was a real incentive to keep up the grades-for men anyway-it was called the Draft.-As for college activities, there were the same things as now, but in addition there was picketing for or against various political causes. Do the students do that these days?

I really think that Greg needs to develop Luann’s college experience a little more quickly.

So far …(1) Luann has not been shown in any class that involved anything more than taking the roll. (She’s going to be unpleasantly surprised when she seeks how much note-taking she has to do in class.)(2) We don’t know what any of the classes she is taking are.(3) We haven’t seen the faces of any of her fellow students — they’ve just been silhouettes — nor, apparently, has Luann introduced herself to any of them.(4) We don’t even know what the name of her college is.

I am sure we will get most of this eventually, but I would like them to happen sooner rather than later.

I think Luann has at least two classes as one, we know she has a noon class because she said so, and two, she alluded that she also has a 10.00 am class when she was talking with Bernice in WW… ;)

I still would like to know why you continually focus so much on Bernice needing to (no, let me rephrase that, it being an absolute necessity to make new friends, and more new friends, and meanwhile dumping close old friends like Luann. I don’t see her trying to drag Bernice to what I think you are saying is Luann’s level… ;)

The locus of the strip has never been said to be California. .This is just an assumption by some readers here. There as been a long air flight to Hollywood, long car trip to Las Vegas, etc. These don’t all fit California. .It is an imaginary place.Yes, it’s in the US, but it could be anywhere without snow. Probably in the Western States. .Time zone detail might limit that..But best imagine it in “Anyplace, USA”
