Teacher: Danae...you were supposed to do a science report. Danae: I did! It's an alternative science report. Teacher: No... you can't just make up things you want to believe are true and pass it off as science. Danae: Why not? Lots of adults make a good living at it. Ned: When I was your age, teachers wanted us to watch more news programs... Danae: She says it's information-age irony.

FOX News is proof there is no God…..If there were, the Weather Channel would be reporting more lightning strikes on the eights….

This reminds me of the scene in Scrooged wherein Bill Murray’s character is confronted by the Specter of Death in an elevator, in which he responds, “We’re going to get calls.”

“I’ve seen Limbaugh get it wrong 10 times over 30 years. "
I come to the funny pages in the morning to get a laugh, but that right there is comedy gold. I hear Mallard Fillmore is looking for a guest writer…

Danae is partly right. When US Congressmen constantly fantasize about reality when has to wonder if they are even real. Or is it that the republican ‘house of Usher’ is issuing the creationist dicta they keep repeating?

Wow. A lot of delusional projection going on today to rationalize preconceived dogma. For those of you who may not be familiar with this psychological phenomenon, here’s an explanation.

I know for most of those who are in the deepest denial of reality, this will bounce right off your forehead, but hopefully it will help others wake up. Not holding my breath though.

The GOP is not really lying about the basic ideals on which they base their political philosophy. In order to be genuinely lying, you have to not believe it yourself. In the alternate universe created by Faux news, Rush Limbaugh, etc, the lies have been repeated so often, and by so many people that they are actually believing themselves now.
This is “truthiness” — Colbert’s word, meaning that what is self evident when you use your mind is less important than what you know in your gut. You believe your gut, not your mind, because you don’t like what you know with your mind. The problem with using your gut for thinking instead of your brain is that the products of the two organs become virtually identical.

Not just the talking heads, but the weather reports, the economic forecasts, etc usually just make that stuff up.

“Not terribly honest, strictures. Merely because you don’t like something doesn’t make it untrue. "#And, of course, just because you DO like something does NOT make it true.

Doesn’t it tell you something about the Bible that its contents are so malleable that they can be fitted to any discovered reality? Seriously, there is no scientific truth that could be discovered that believers can’t pretend is supported by the Bible.
Regardless, you’re horribly understating the level of evidence supporting the common descent aspect of biological evolution. It’s pretty much an established fact that all current life on earth can be traced back to a common ancestor. There is no evidence to support the “several kinds” idea and plenty of evidence to dispute it.

Making things up… it works for Ken Ham here in Kentucky. Hell, he’s got the state government throwing him money now. What a racket.

When I was a kid I used to listen to Radio Moscow and Voice of America on shortwave. When they chose to include the same news story they were substantially in agreement on the facts but the spin, the opinion in which those facts were embedded, was often radically different. Something similar happens when you compare Fox with other major outlets. When they choose to run the same news story they tend to embed it in a web of opinion that differs substantially from the mainstream thought of the country. Big deal! As responsible adults we should not rely on any single source for our news. Watch Fox. Watch the BBC and Al Jazeera. Above all, watch news sources that don’t agree with our opinions. It’s the only way to get a hint of what’s happening in the world.
